This is ridiculous. For the last couple of months I've been dealing with one flash after another. I recently saw a bumper sticker that said "It's not a hot flash...it's a POWER SURGE." I truly sympathsized with the woman in that truck and would have liked to speak with her.

Are there any new suggestions on getting rid of these flashes? They are to the point where I can tell when one is coming on because I'll get moody, irritable, light headed, and blah...then the flashes begin followed by the drenching sweat and topped off with chills.

Sorry to be so whiny smile.gif.

I would ask first what or if you are supplementing?

I reduced mine with a herbal supplement (herbal equilibrium) and it has reduced them by about 60% or so...however because I have an adrenal issue and high nightime cortisol, I still get hot because of the adrenal surges at night, but it is minimal compared to what it was like.

The herbs in the supp. are: Black cohosh, ashwagandha, wild yam, kudzu, red clover and a couple of more.

Also I have had to almost eliminate my nightly glass of red wine (poo!) and limit my sugar and caffeine intake...its really hard, but I have to do what it takes to get rid of those hot spells!

I'm sure you must be doing something? ...I can see you are seasoned vet at PS.

Hi,

We are all going through the lovely experience of menopause. I'm 63 and still having problems;however,
I have found a natural supplement - Menosense- which has tamed the hot flashes. My night sweats are now gone.
Ingredients are dong quai, cranberry, black colash. A nutrionist from a natural food store was very
helpful or Puritan's Pride (online) can also show you some products.

You're not whinny- just frustrated like most of us.

Good Luck,

Cing (Cindi)

Dear'MyFaith'
I have to admit that because I use HRT,flashes and flushes are very infrequent but understand that as you may not wish to go the Hormonal route feel that the supplements that the other ladies mentioned maybe of some help to you.

A very good friend of mine who wished to take the journey as naturally as possible used to have the sweat literally running down her face. She would always carry a small battery operated fan with her.She also completely gave up alcohol and kept caffeine to a minimum. It seemed to help.

Hope you find something that works for you!
And this is not whining! You have to express how you are feeling as it does spoil the quality of your life.

All the Best
Elizabeth

Thanks ladies smile.gif.

I take a variety of supplements, compounded hormones, and I also have one of those portable handheld fans smile.gif. I don't drink, smoke, eat spicy foods, eat sugar or have anything with caffeine. I have ibs and sugar causes migraines...but that's another thread lol, smile.gif.

It has gotten to where I can not wear certain fabrics...polyester is almost guaranteed power surge!

Despite all of this I must say that I do have moments where I will not have hot flashes for weeks, sometimes months. Oh, how I fully enjoy those spells smile.gif.
