Hey everyone, I’m new here and I’m so happy I found this site. I’ve been trying to find info on this subject for months.

Back in Jan 07, I had my first bout of vertigo/dizziness. It lasted about 2 days.
Then one yr to the DAY, I had it again. Then once again, Jan 09, I had it again, then again last month.
What I noticed was each and every episode was either just before my period or on the first day of my period.

My PMS has also gotten much worse. Hot flashes, anger, emotional like crazy and other the other lovely symptoms us women feel.
After my first bout of vertigo in Jan 07, 2 months later I got tinnitus for the first time ever.
I went to see 2 diff ENT’s and both were clueless as to what was wrong (what a surprise). And when I went to my gyno (who’s been my gyno for 23 yrs) to tell her about this, she looked at me like she thought I was nuts. Without even asking my symptoms she said I was not in peri menopause. That I was too young! Again, what a surprise!

I’m 42 yrs old. I started my period when I was 9 yrs old and I am 100% sure I am in perimenopause. My period have not stopped but they are not lasting only a day or so.
I eat well, I exercise a lot and sleep well.

I have an appointment with a BHRT specialist in 2 weeks and was wondering if hormones will help with the vertigo. I can handle EVERY other symptom but this one.

Has anyone else had this? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated 

Vertigo is a possible symptom of hormonal imbalance. Certainly, the other symptoms you have mentioned are consistent with hormonal imbalance. We could certainly help you by balancing your hormones with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Dear Peace,

I've had them and so have many other women on these boards! Hopefully your BHRT specialist or Pete will give you what you need so that these symptoms will be eliminated!

Welcome to PS and good luck!

I've experienced the dizziness as well. I started my period when I was 11 and I'm certain I started the peri process at about 36. My doctor told me the same thing...I was too young. They really need to change their views on this.

I have had dizziness and vertigo on/off for five years now. The vertigo is worse around ovulation & period. It is awful! I also get the ringing in my ears at times and my PMS has become horrible - I cry and get angry more than ever before. I'm 44 and I know I'm in perimenopause. This website is so helpful - makes you feel less alone... smile.gif

I'm having the vertigo/unbalanced feeling now. It started last month. My blood pressure is fine and always has been. What do you do for it? I got some drops at the health food store, but they taste nasty! I keep ginger root in the fridge for cooking and I've used it once, but I think I'm going to have to use it more often when I get these sensations.

Hi peacesoul
I have had spells of vertigo since I was in my 20s now 48. Last year the day before amy period arrived I had the worst ever vertigo where I thought I had had a stroke I vomited down my night clothes. My husband called the doctor who gave me a shot of Stemitil which helped. I foud myself unable to read, watch tv or concentrate on anything for weeks. My hearing was muted and the ringing in my ears was horrible. Thank God I have recovered well with only an occasional mild balance problem I find if I try to carry on doing what I would normally do in a day it helps me to keep my balance. I think you have to keep moving as it seems to help your eyes adjust to movement. I know how this can shake your confidence to the core, but you will get better. lots of hugs form a fellow dizzy.

Your ent should have prescribed antivert for the dizziness. Its very helpful. You also may consider seeing an neuro-otologist
( balance specialist ). I went thru hell for a few years before I found the right ent that sent me to the right specialist.

Good luck, Helen smile.gif

I have this dizziness and tinnitus too. They both come and go.... I did a trial run of BHRT and my dizziness got much worse, I think from too much P.... but we are all different, it may help you. I have heard and read that dizziness could be from low E in relation to P. Have you had your thyroid checked? These are also symptoms of thyroid trouble.

Welcome to PS. You will love being here!
