Ok, I'm going to get over my embarassment, but its not easy. Trying to find the answer to this one.
About 2 mos ago, I noticed sharp cramps at orgasm. Ignored for a while then asked my Nurse Practitioner.
She checked for uti, found nothing and scheduled me for my annual pap, etc for a month later.
cramping and pinching went on for a month then I saw her. She said left ovary was swollen, did ultrasound and C125 test for cancer.
Both came back ok. Needless to say, have been avoiding "the deed" for several weeks now.

This morning, all was going great w/ DH, until 2 sharp pains again at orgasm..located in ovary area.
I have appt in 2 days with ob/gyn. Wondering if anyone else has ever had this, and what should I tell doc?

Thanks.

Yeah, I had this about 8 years ago. It went away after awhile. I always assumed it was either a fibroid growing or an ovarian follicular cyst. It turned out not to be serious in my case.

My pain wasn't sharp though, it was more like a strange weirdo throbbing feeling. I was freaked out at the time.
Happened every time, for about a month or two. Then went away.

Hope yours does too.

I've had pain upon orgasm in the vaginal muscle on one side which never happened pre-menopause. It went away on its own for a long time and has only just started again, although not as painfully as before. It's possible to get muscle strain in the abdominal muscles but I'd never heard of getting vaginal muscle strain from orgasm. Anyone else had this?

Will check out other sources again, tho.

Yes-I've had this a lot too...and still wonder how something so good (orgasm) could hurt at the same time!!

Questioned my GYN ,who didn't give me an answer for it really!

Haven't had it happen for sometime now...because I haven't had intercourse for sometime now *gulp* rolleyes.gif

COULD IT BE THE WAY YOUR BEING PENETRATED? MIGHT BE YOUR HUSBAND IS AGGRIVATING YOU OVERY BY THE WAY HE THRUSTS. TRY A FEW DIFFERENT POSITIONS AND SEE IF IT CHANGES. NOT TO GET TO GRAPHIC FOR YOU BUT IF YOU HAVE SEX WHILE ON YOUR KNEES WITH YOUR FORARMS ON THE BED SO YOUR LEANING DOWN, IT DUMPS THE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS FORWARD AND OUT OF THE WAY.

I remember this happening to me. I had my right ovary removed last year because a cyst wouldn't go away. Luckily it hasn't happened since.

What's an orgasm? huh.gif

I'd love to have one, painful or not. rolleyes.gif

Yes I have also had that pain, I asked the Gyno and he said maybe it's a cyst breaking or something, he really didn't know and acted like he's never had that question before. Jill

Hmmm....makes you wonder if there is some kind of scar tissue being bumped. Have you ever had any kind of surgery in that area?

lynsi, darlin'!!! nice to see you back on the boards, though i'm sorry to read about what brought you back! pain with sex is no fun at all and very scary. with all cylinders going, orgasm seemed to heighten it as i, too, went through this. it was a couple of ovarian cysts that were the culprit in my case. the worst pain came when the cysts ruptured--omg, i rank it after kidney stone pain and sciatica pain; it was awful-- though it's not always this way for people. sometimes a laparoscopy is done to remove the cyst.
anyhoo, i hope you get some answers/resolution and you can get back to the business of enjoying intimacy with your hubby rather than worrying and focusing on what is going on w/in.
how's the school year progressing for you?
all is well here in Virginia.

oodles of hugs, lyns--
feel better, sweetie!

Hi Angel,
So great to hear from you. Yes, I had been worrying about what that pain could be...and it made me anxious.
Then I had aches and twinges all over the abdominal area/.

Ultrasound came back ok. My NP said come back in3 months for a do-over.
Not satisfied with that I made an appt with an ob/gyn.
He looked at results, asked a few questions and then diagnosed a pulled pelvic muscle.
Said the organs were fine, but I probably pulled something when I was working out.

So, he prescribed a muscle relaxer and alleve for 2 weeks, then a physical therapist.
I was so relieved.

However, today I had that all=too familiar out of body anxiety thing at work.
THe school nurse said my blood pressure was really high and sent me home.
Now I read that the muscle relaxer can cause rapid heartbeat!

Aye aye aye
So I'm back to square one- where I started with Power Surge-
trying to get relief from palpitations and atacacardia (sp?)

LOL
It never ends!!
thanks for being there ladies!
