I'm trying to limit exposure to estrogen producing substances like chemicals (in food, eliminating plastics, etc) and a lot of skin lotions have all sorts of chemicals in them--sadly.
My skin is driving me nuts and I'm at a loss as to what to do next to relieve the symptoms. My skin gets rashes here and there and a bit of zinc oxide seems to do the trick for that. However, my hands and forearms are awful. I get these little raised pimples--you can't really see them but you can feel the bumpiness as you run your hand over your arm and hand. My right hand looks chapped. I tried calendula lotion, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Forget my legs--they look like alligator skin but at least you can hide them under slacks. Your hands are seen by the whole world!! Any suggestions? (btw, I also supplement my diet with fish oil and vitamin E) -------------------- I am Menopausa, PeriMeno Warrior Princess!

HI Booky - I am the Queen of skin conditions. For the chapped stuff there is a good cream that I use called Dermal Therapy Heel care cream...and, YES for the heels - but I use it on my hands. I have also been using that Udder cream, Udderly SmOOth and Gold Bond Ultimate Moisturizing Skin Therapy Lotion.

Since the thread about Crisco, I have been using that and have to say that I'm pleased. Espeically with my face. I was using Clinique but I find I prefer the crisco. If you haven't tried it, you may want to.
I believe I've used aquaphor before and think it's found at most drug stores. Is this correct Leanne? -------------------- Carol

Sounds like my eczema! I have had it intermittently since I was young, and it seems to travel from one spot to another. I use a prescription steroid cream occasionally. I have been using Glysomed hand cream, and it seems to get rid of a mild case. I also bought Handy Manum serum from Sephora, it is a 1% OTC steroid in an oil type base that you rub into your skin. A little goes a long way! Hope this helps!

Here's a link: http://www.eucerinus.com/products/hb_aho.html I heard about Crisco on another board, but I use coconut oil. I've used the Crisco, but coconut oil is better for my thyroid so I use that. TJ -------------------- May We All Find Some Sort of Peace!!! Have A Beautiful Day Sisters! |

Hi,
If your breaking out in your skin in any way, it could be from something you are putting in you. Have you been tested for a wheat allergy, or any food allergies? Those are my first thoughts. Next I have been using miracle 2 products for the past 8 years. They are the best for eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and many other things. I had fibromyalgia (bedridden for 1 1/2 years) & the miracle 2 products got rid of all my pain as well. (Got myself from 22 stinking pills a day to zero) I got all the chemicals out of my house 8 years ago, and started bathing, cleaning, well really just about everything I do in my home I use those products. Also, like TJ said, I have also used the extra virgin coconut oil as well, that would be wayyyyyyy better then crisco! ~Love, Hugs, & Prayers |

I came here because my skin is getting so dry and I was a big lotion user. Right now I can't use any lotion because it holds the heat in and makes me sweat worse when I hotflash. Could someone point me to the discussion that talks about the oils? And are the lotions everyone else is talking about better than regular lotions and don't make you sweat? Please help.

Hi Sisters,
My forearms look horrendous, to the point I apply foundation cover-up if I go out for a social event. The two things that have worked for me have been 1. ICE THOSE ITCHIES if you need immediate relief and are about to scar yourself. 2. My sister gave me a topical prescription cream that zaps it immediately called Mometasone Furoate ointment at 0.1 %. |

I have mild psoriasis, so I have tried all sorts of products.
Eucerin products are usually recommended by dermatologists. They have several type lotions, a thicker pasty cream, that comes in a jar and a calming cream, that comes in a tube and is supposed to calm itchy skin. I have used their calming cream and lotion. (Walmart sells this) Cetaphil, is another lotions derms recommend. I find it similar to Eucerin products. Both are fragrance free. (walmart sells this) Cerave is another lotion a lot of people (with psoriasis) have tried. I tried a sample, but the amount of the sample wasnt enough for me to tell whether I liked it or not. (I think rite aid carries this) The is also a lotion for itch, called Sarna. I have never tried this either, but it works for some. (walmart sells this) Those looking for an oil, rather than a lotion..try cold pressed coconut oil (found in health food stores or vitamin shoppe). This is also used to cook with..so you can eat it too. It is usually white and thick, but if kept in the bathroom..the heat from the hot water will turn it into a clear oil. You could also heat a bit in your hand. I found this on the greasy side, unless you use very little of it. Jojoba oil. This is a light oil which sinks right into the skin. It is supposed to be the closest oil to our natural skin oil. (can be found on the net or Vitamin shoppe stores). I liked this oil, better than coconut oil. Another thing that I like is Dove body wash with oil. It comes in a pink container. Never take hot showers or baths. Its not good for the skin. Use luke warm water and moisturize as soon as you come out. |
