My hot flashes are similar but I don't get the red face. I get hot and then cold quite often and sometimes at the same time. At times I think I must be coming down with a cold or flu but I don't so it must just be my hot flashes. I have heard others complain of a red face or ears with their hot flashes so you might hear more from one of them.

I get all kinds of hot flashes - hot only, cold only and combination of hot and cold at the same time. Sometimes I'll get a flu like feeling with them too. Sometimes a dizzy/woozy feeling with them. Headaces? Yep, that too. I don't get the red face with mine but my co-worker does. I know it can be a challenge - but I think it's all "normal" on this journey. Hang in there, kathleent

I get all that except my red face only lasts while I'm having a hot flash. Headaches...yes. Ocular migraine too. Tingling in a lot of places on and off. Dizzy spells etc etc. It's best to get a thorough check up to rule out thyroid problems, particularly with hot & cold issues. Apart from that welcome to the club! |

Dear'lindymac' You are not dying!Just getting tired and frustrated with the fluctuations in body temperature which is very draining.I have to say that HRT stopped all this for me. There are lots of Herbal supplements out there plus alternative approaches to help these symptoms.Just keep investigating and surely you will find something to ease the symptoms. Best of Luck Elizabeth |

Hello
I'm feeling the same things, I did ask a doctor at another site, follows what he said to me: Anyway lets keep in touch, I never heard of anybody with the same symptoms, I'm scared since I do not know what is this and it is not going away. It is not only hot flashes, but we could say cold/hot flahses all at once. Sometimes I think I'm dying. Sabrina That was my question: I'm prone to infections and all kind of viruses . For the last two months I'm having disphagia and gurgling, I have Hashimoto and nodules on my thyroid. I do not take any medicine. I'm having a strange feeling, that I never thought could be possible for a human being, feeling hot and cold at the same time. I was not eating red meat or chicken for the last 8 yrs, for the last 2 mo I cut fish and seafood as well, I'm eating a lot of soy products. I realize that it is my body, like my thermostat is broken, and I feel very cold (with cold hands and feet ) I cover myself and I feel very hot, my blood pressure is fine, it is not fever, I'm taking my body temperature many times a day and it is normal... Not hypoglicemic. I'm female, 48 yrs old are this menopause symptoms? Also had few stomach flu episodes recently (first was 02 months ago) with a lot of vomiting and one of them , almost passed out. This whole thing started with feeling of just being hot, like having a sunburn not fever . This was his answer: Hi I read your question. Well, it is possible that your symptoms could be attributed to perimenopausal symptoms... however, I noted that you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Generally this needs to be followed by an endocrinologist because many people will end up needing thyroid replacement hormone. It is good that you are trying to eat healthy- and I encourage you to keep that up and exercise. That being said, I would make an appointment with your regular doctor at your earliest convenience- you need a comprehensive medical evaluation and lab tests- complete blood count, chemistries and thyroid panel at the very least. As well, it wouldn't hurt to do the screening tests such as cholesterol and fasting glucose. |

I used to get the "combo" hot & cold flashes - different parts of my body were hot vs. cold. yuck. Only thing to make flashes stop are hrt or (hopefully) they will stop on their own without doing anything as your body adjusts to meno. Some women use soy and other supplements. Maybe someone out there can fill you in on those. Hang in there. JZZ |

I get the red face sometimes but not all the time and mine only lasts as long as the flash. What I find really strange is how my back heats up. When Im asleep and a flash wakes me up I really notice how my back seems to heat up the mattress and I have to move all around and keep searching for a cool spot. Drives me crazy
I ended up buying me a couple of those little fans and keep one in my purse, next to my bed and one in the living room.Better than always trying to find a magazine or something to fan myself with. Your not crazy or anything just "mentalpausal" ![]() Hang in there, Helen |
