Blood work last week showed very low levels of testosterone, so here I go again with another hormone to figure out. I've done some reading here and have a pretty good idea how it works, where to put it, how long it might take to work etc.
But, I'd like to find out if my dose is comparable to what is normally prescribed. There seems to be such a vast range. I am taking bio E and P, but not in compounded form. The T is compounded so it's kind of new for me.
It's in a syringe with instructions that say 1 mg/0.2ml. Apply 0.2 ml (=1 line) twice daily.
So how much testosterone am I getting at this dose and where in the range of high and low is it?
Thanks for your help ladies.

I've also just started T, but I'm waiting a few more days to report so I have a better idea of how it is affecting me.

That dose seems high to start. A friend who's been using it for a couple of years and knows a lot about it told me to just start with .5mg and use it early in the day, since it can keep you awake at night. Once you see how it affects you, then increase by .5mg increments.

I rub part on my clitoral and peri area daily, and part on my arm, rotating the skin areas every day so you don't get hair growing where you don't want it.

Hi,

Looks like you are getting 2 mg of testosterone. That is what I take. I wouldn't want any less.

I'll take it all... rolleyes.gif

I think you are going to like this. Don't be afraid of testosterone. It is a very very good hormone and it will build your bones and make you energetic and can do happy. You will know if you are taking too much. It sounds like your doctor knows what he or she is doing, because this is a good amount if your testosterone is in single digits. My initial level of T before supplementation was 9 or 10.

It works best if your supply of estrogen is adequate.

Thanks guys.
I really am a bit apprehensive about using the T and I'm not sure at this point if my E is enough either. Right now I'm taking 1.5 mgs. 100 Prometrium. At first, I was feeling GLEE!!! and was like that for a few months. Now, it's a bit more of a struggle. A tiny bit like I felt before I started HT.
But, I have to laugh right now. I put a very, very small dab of T cream on my arm and at 8:30 pm, I am sweeping. Sweeping on Saturday night at 8:30. Is this what testosterone does to a person????

Yes-that's a good sign! You feel imbued with enthusiasm and energy. I find my brain sharpens up as well!
I would not worry about E being too low. I don't use hardly any E at all because it makes me feel really ill and anxious but testosterone still works for me. One of the things I love about it is that it makes me feel positive and courageous-on estrogen I become a wimp!
There is some belief that using T without E can cause masculinization. Well it can still cause that with E if the dose of T is too high. Because I don't take E- I only need a tiny bit of T and I have not grown a beard yet laugh.gif

I do use a tiny dot of estriol about twice a week which makes me feel more feminine but that is all I need.

I can't tell you how much you should be using because different amounts work for different people. You will know if you are using too much though as you will start to feel dire. If you begin to feel agitated and anxious then stop for a while. Testosterone builds up very quickly in the body and once it is there it can take ages for the effects to wear off. Now my levels are good I only top mine up once in a while.
Good luck and keep sweeping laugh.gif

Well, here goes.
I'm going to try another dab of T and see what happens. I'm going shopping so this could be a good thing or a bad thing.
Will report back when I get home......:-)
