Hi Ladies
I was just wondering if anyone else out there has never had a hot flash? I am 52, right smack dab in the middle of peri but have never had a single hot flash. I have some of the other symptoms. Periods are gettilng further and further between, much lighter, I have intermittent insomnia, some dizziness from time to time, and episodes of anxiety. My sisters-in-law and all of my female cousins, all ranging between 45 and 55 years of age, think I'm kidding. They all have had hot flashes, some more than others. Could it be possible to go through this entire transition without ever having one? Mind you, I'm not complaining, just curious. Anyone else? -------------------- |

I haven't had a hot flash yet either. I will be the big "50" next month and still getting my period. They are spread out more now and don't last long..I have free-floating anxiety from time to time, but it has gotten better. I have no trouble sleeping at all. Maybe we will be "lucky" and never have one.. Yeah right?? LOLPudge

I'll be 50 in April, so 2 of us here are 1952 babies. I think I had 1 hot flash about a year or so ago, but nothing since. My doctor said it wasn't one, but I don't know what else it could have been. I actually had a fever of about 101. I took my temperature because I thought I was coming down with the flu and I was on fire! I was hot and a bit dizzy and it lasted for over 30 minutes. Then whoosh--it was gone. I never came down with a thing, so I figured that it must have been a hotflash. My doctor said no because it lasted too long. Anyway, I've never had another one. I had problems with nighttime panic attacks which were horrid. My periods are all over the place-sometimes 20 days, sometimes 45 days. My libido is all over the place also. My moods change by the nanosecond, but no hot flashes. I just figured I've been lucky so far. I do use the progesterone cream religiously and I eat a lot of soy in that I am a vegetarian. Maybe all this helps. I also take all the herbs and vitamins that are recommended for us meno girls. I'm sure there are other women who never get hotflashes. I for one don't miss having them. What with all these other great symptoms I'm having plenty of fun already!!!!! We could call ourselves the coolflash club.

Snowyday, I was just reading my post of a couple of weeks ago and had to laugh. I have to say that in the last couple of weeks I have experienced what I think is a hot flash. I just got real hot suddenly, my face doesn't turn red and i don't look like I am flushed. But boy do i get WARM all of a sudden. I have also felt very sweaty when I wake up . Oh yeah not fun but I guess this is what everyone has been talking about. So now I am wondering if some natural herbs would help this. I am taking all the right vitamins. Any suggestions anyone? So I guess us "soon to be turning 50" can say I have joined the club..LOLPudge

Hi Everyone,Count me in the cool flash club. I'm 50 and I've never had a real hot flash either, but sometimes I feel a flush in my face. Is that the same thing? Also I get night sweats, so I guess that's the night time version of a hot flash even though I don't feel hot when it happens. I also eat alot of soy and eat mostly vegetarian so maybe that makes a difference.
Suzie p.s. I have plenty of other meno symptoms-anxiety, panic, sleep disturbances , dreams etc. so I don't feel left out! |
