I just started Vivogel, a BIO estrogen. It seems to have leveled the anxiety somewhat. I had missed 3 periods and just got one this month that last for 10 days. According to my calander, I should be ovulating yesterday or today. I started having terrible hot flashes last night and today. What is happening at ovulation, I forget. Does the estrogen drop or go up????

Does the estrogen drop or go up???? At ovulation, estrogen is at it's highest and progesterone is just beginning to rise! The hot flashes were due to too much estrogen being in your body and it sounds like the heavier flow is too. Are you taking progesterone at all, you should begin taking it any day now to balance out the estrogen. To see the cycle, go to womentowomen.com and click on Menopause, then click on MORE ARTICLES on the left, then click on estrogen dominance is it real, then you will see the illustration at the bottom... Best wishes... TJ -------------------- May We All Find Some Sort of Peace!!! Have A Beautiful Day Sisters! |

Hot flashes are due to either falling or low levels of E. The rising E levels just prior to ovulation are usually when women feel their best just before the P increases. But when we are well into peri, the E levels do not rise that high. If you are missing periods it's most likely your estrogen was low at that time, so I doubt you have estrogen dominance. Dr. Vliet, Dr. Gillespie and other docs who regularly treat women say they most frequently see estrogen deficiency in women going though peri. Declining E is what causes our periods to slow down and eventually stop.
