I have vaginal atrophy. I have used premarin, estrace and now I have an Estring inside me. Internally it seems to be better but externally I am still irritated. I read on here that this is a common occurrence to continue to be irritated externally. I called and asked if it was ok for me to use vitamin E on my lady bits at night. No She tells me to come back in. That obviously the Estring isn't working if I am still sore.
I tell them I just can't make it in this week. So the nurse tells me, do not wash with anything but water, do not put anything on not even vagisil to relieve the burning. To sleep with no underwear on. Do just pat myself dry and never use any type of wipe. After reading all your success stories with the vitamin E I am going to do that regularly and not just once and a while. This Doctor even had to look it up how to treat me and that is when she came up with the Estring. She will NOT let me use the bioidentical hormones period. My primary care giver told me that he wouldn't even let me have any hormones. Good Grief. |

I don't have that problem (hope I never do) but I know it is quite common here. I really think doctors don't put enough effort into menopause issues. Some would probably not even deal with it, which is sad. Maybe you need a second opinion? Good luck and I hope you feel better with the discomfort, it sounds terrible. I have had a yeast infection or two in the past and I know how horrible the burning can feel, so I cannot imagine what you gals are going through with vaginal atrophy.

Gram, unfortunately not every doctor is experienced enough in peri or meno to prescribe the correct treatments and even the correct dosages. If I were you I'd simply begin the E suppositories and see how it goes for you... As you've stated, it has helped a lot of people on these boards and fortunately, most of the people on these boards know more than some doctors. It is your body and you know what is going on better than the doctors do. I'd also think about finding another doctor who is much more knowledgeable in this area... A good book to help you on your journey is Natural Hormone Balance for Women by Uzzi Reiss... Good luck to you... TJ TJ -------------------- May We All Find Some Sort of Peace!!!
