Good Evening Ladies!
During my teen years I was lucky not to have to much of a blemish problem. Now, suddenly, at 52, I am experiencing more break-outs than I ever had then. Is my body reversing?! Am I getting younger?! All kidding aside, just wondering how common this is. Les -------------------- les

Hi Les,
I can relate. During my teens years I had a total of maybe four zits. Then in my twenties I had the occasional small breakout. Then my thirties came. Holy Moly! My breakouts were getting bigger and much more frequent. I had my hormone levels checked and all was well. What I've found that works really well for me is using an exfoliating scrub and pro-activ revitalizing toner and repairing lotion. I can go months now without a breakout. I still get the occasional one rignt around my period but not nearly as bad as I used to. It's all a case of finding something to kill the bacteria but not enough to irritate or completely dry out your skin as that can lead to more breakouts. Keep smiling Tara |

I had terrible cystic acne as a teen and then it went away in my 20's...It reappeared, off and on for 5 years , when I was in my late 40's. It went away when my period stopped at 54 but it sure was embarrassing to have gray hair and terrible pimples...very odd. I have read it has to do with androgens....
I hope your acne is short-lived! CG -------------------- I'm really a persuasive person; I can convince myself of anything.

This forum is so amazing, no matter what issue I have, I can find someone who has had something similar. I started breaking out terribly, in fact my first recent episode was on my 54th birthday, and I DH threw me a surprise party. I was sooo embarrassed, but it get worse, I started my period again, after two years of no period. I am now having it investigated, but I hope and pray it is only hormones, and this too shall pass.

CG I had cystic acne too, and am badly scarred from it on both my face and back. I haven't had a cyst in over 20 years, but I never did completely lose the zits. I STILL -- at nearly 49 years old -- get pimples a couple of days before my period. I just think "This is great. I have gray hair and zits." -------------------- Webalina
