Here to now, I haven't been troubled with many of the things I read about on this forum. My primary symptom has been very heavy bleeding but at least it was regular for the most part. Perhaps I am finally entering the zone because I am overdue for a period by a month. In that month, I started getting peculiar hot feelings in my face that would happen every hour or so. At first, I was amused by them because I thought maybe I was finally joining the "big girl's club". Now, a month later I am not so amused. Yuck! It is an almost unbearable hot sensation on my upper body and face that makes me want to tear my clothes off. The worst part is that my face actually turns beet red. Several people have asked if I am OK when they see my red face. Is this normal...to have a red face? I always said I would take hot flashes over heavy bleeding. I may have gotten my wish. Geez, this stuff is no fun.

Dear (((((ornkat))))))
Welcome to the hotflashing club!! Aint it grand? blink.gif

Yes it perfectly normal to have a red face during a hotflash. Although I am playing pretty 'fast and loose' with the word 'normal'. Nothing is 'normal' during menopause. Just ask the thousands of Surge Sistahs who have endured these and other symptoms for years now, myself included.

There is a slew of information on this site about helpful remedies that you can take to help curb these annyong 'Surges' Here is alink for you to read......Surge - What is a HOTFLASH?

In the meatime......

Woohoo! Ain't it fun!?!?!! I had my first REAL hot flash at work. Went from wearing a jacket at my desk because it was so cold from the A/C to losing the jacket and sweat running down my back in about 30 sec. Most have been not quite so severa as that one, but every once in a while...BANG!

Hi orngkat06,
When I was in my early 30's I was an image consultant and was freelancing for major cosmetic companies. I had a very enlightning experience when my client had a hot flash while I was doing her make up. All of a sudden she warned me that her face was about to get beet red and she would start perspiring. She was so mortified, I felt sorry for her. She told me that she just started having these stupid hot flashes and it was screwing up her life. I decided to casually talk to her as not to draw attention to what was happening and right before my eyes, her whole face turned beet red and the persperation literally began beading off of her face within seconds. It was amazing. She was in her 40's. She took out her hankerchief and dabbed off the sweat and many minutes later her face started to cool down and we continued with her make over. I never forgot that experience and thought for sure thats what all hot flashes were made of. A few years ago I stepped into peri/meno bootcamp and experienced profuse sweating in the core of my body but never my face. I wake up with night sweats and am soaked in my upper torso but nowhere else. I guess all women are different. Your so right, this stuff is NO FUN!!
