Anyone using femhrt 0.5 2.5 nor... Options

Wondering if any one is using femhrt and if so how are you feeling and how long have you been using it? Also, if any one has used it in the past and then stopped it, how are you now? I am 50, have been going thru some tough times with menopause. At the age of 45 I would say peri hit with irregular bleeding and then bleeding to the point of no return at which I had an endo ablation done last Feb. Luckily the bleeding has stopped since then, with only one return and it was light but long. Now I am having dreaded hot flushes and flashes, especially thru out the night, almost to night sweats. I am not getting any sleep. Running on empty. Nausea is awful and persistent. I mentioned the nausea to my gyne last week and she said she never heard of any one complaining of nausea due to menopause?? I am really fatigued thru out the morning, probably because of no sleep, then tense and anxious also, with muscles tensing in my shoulders, arms and back. So my gyne handed me a sample of femhrt. I explained to her I wanted to use creams or some thing of that sort but she disagreed. I told her I was worried about bleeding again, cancer, blood clots. It didn't matter what I said, she was insistent on using hormone therapy. So, I ran to my local Natures Pickins and bought Primrose Oil, Flaxseed and L-Theanine which I began taking today. If these do not help I am seriously thinking of using hrt but so afraid. If any one could give me advise or their history of using hrt, I would appreciate it so much.

Hi Camper - I can't give you much advice about using HRT because I just started it 8 days ago (Activella). But, I can tell you that nausea has been one of my worst symptoms. If you read through some of these back posts, you will find many ladies that have been plagued by this symptom. I actually started a post a few months ago asking if HRT took care of nausea. I got several responses from women that said that , Yes, it had helped their nausea. I haven't really found any relief from it yet, but I know that HRT takes some time to kick in. I HAVE had a reduction in my night sweats, but so far, the HRT hasn't helped the anxiety, insomnia, GI problems, lethargy, foggy head, I hope it helps soon or I will be very disappointed.

I had very good results with FemHrt, was on the low dose for a year, the regular dose for a few months....I only stopped it due to weight gain, and went back on the pill...
now am going to go back on HRT ( see my post on that), and hope not to have weight gain again, have really modified my diet...
FemHrt got rid of hot flashes, and I felt great on it...all except for weight gain....which may or may not have been due to HRT, anyway.....

I have been on the low dose FemHrt for about a year and a half, with very good results. My gyn told me that the dosage is only about one eight of a typical birth control pill, so I felt comfortable with such a low dose of homones. It has worked really well for the hot flashes and insomnia. I do still sometimes have night sweats, but that could be from too many blankets!

I haven't lost weight while on this pill, but I haven't really gained any either. I have just maintained-which my gyn said is pretty good considering age and motabolism. I plan to stay on this a while longer - I am only 49 so could still have symptoms for a while!

If you need relief, it is worth a try, IMO.

Thanks to all of you so much for responding to my post. I was so worried about taking synthetic hormones to begin with but living with these menopausal issues is driving me crazy. I do not have any type of life any more so I think I will go for it, risks and all. The nausea is awful. I can not sleep because of the night sweats and cold chills. They do not recommend that smokers take any synthetic hormones, but I am not sure about bioidenticals....

I believe it is better not to smoke when on any HRT as you are more liable to blood clots etc.Why not discuss this with your prescribing Doctor?

I used to be a smoker.Then one day I just took the pack and threw it in the garbage.It took me about a month to feel the benefits but I slept better,smelt better and saved money!

Good for you Elizabeth! Your health has greatly benefited from not smoking too, I am sure!
I have always been a non-smoker, but sadly watched my mother, who was a smoker for most of her life, day a slow death from lung cancer. Once you see a loved one going thru that, a person would be crazy to smoke...

And, yes, she should discuss this with her MD.
