Hi ladies,
i have been on bcp's for a year and a half now and my hot flashes seem pretty much gone. This is the week of my period, the placebo week. My question is this, can you still flash even though you are on bcp's? This morning I'm reading the paper, and I start to feel "weird". Little litghtheaded, like pressure on my body, then really warm, I am shaky when I am standing up. I feel "off" Still pretty warm 15 minutes later. Is this a hot flash or something worse?

Please answer asap as it si scaring me a bit.

enough,

I am pretty much convinced that once fully entrenched in peri, and certainly in menopause, your internal thermostat just doesn't work right ever again!! I would not worry about hot flashes, especially during the placebo week. I get flashes on BHRT, granted not as many BY FAR and in no way as intense, but they are still there!!

Don't fret, don't worry.....it is all normal. Not fun perhaps, but nothing to be conerned about. Just ride them out, strip down (always wear layers!! so you can strip down.). I wear a tank top under my clothes almost always, so I can strip down if I have to!! It is winter here, and VERY COLD up in Canada, and yet I find myself sitting in my tank top most evenings, while everyone else is wearing a hoodie and has a blanket covering them!! ohmy.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Dear'enough

Please try not to worry.I have been on HRT and still have the odd hot flash, especially at night. Also some anxiety does pop up and I still, but very rarely use the Xanax for that

I think no matter what we take or do to relieve our symptoms, the journey has to be taken and there will be rough spots along the road.

God Bless
Elizabeth

If you are on the week of your placebo pills, you are not "on" birth control pills that week. Your estrogen could well be dropping that week, whether you are in peri-menopause or not. Therefore, you can have hot flashes that week. Some women can even have hot flashes while they are on the 3 weeks of bc pills if they are on one of the very low estrogen pills.
