When I was pregnant in 1980 )yeah, 1980) I had a bunch of yeast infections. A few over the years and NOW many during this perimenopausal nightmare. If I even think about sex or antibiotics (no, not together) BOOM. I am sssooo sick of it and my gyne acts like I might have diabetes, well, I don't. Argghhh. Anyone have any luck with Fembioitcs or anything?

Hi Goldie - I used to get those dratted infections a lot too....what stopped it for me was taking femdophlilus oral caps which are acidophilus cultures to restore the good vaginal bacteria - two of those a day for a week set things right. It is also wise to use a product called RepHresh which is a vaginal insert you use every 3 days to retstore the ph balance - once you do this for a while it should resolve - I still take the caps every now and then when I remember so I don't get that prob again! Hope this helps!

Ask your gyno about LS (lichen sclerosis)...my new doc took one look and my "virginia" and immediately knew what the problem was.....I've never heard of it before. It ties into so many other symptoms and often misdiagonised as yeast infections....check it out! |

My mother has licen schlerosis and has had it for years. She uses some kind of cortisone type cream. I read up on it and the tendency IS hereditary. BUT, my "fine china" has been inspected so many times lately by so many folks, you'd think they would notice it if I had it. I am seeing my Gyne Nurse Practitioner next week and will address it.

Hope this helps! Funny you should mention this. I went to the health food store yesterday and tried to buy Femdophilus oral caps, but they did not have it so I paid $39.00 for 30 capsules of a similar Probiotic for vaginal health. Took one last night. I have tried RePhresh and it did work for awhile. I have Premarin vaginal cream that would probably work nicely if I could remember to do it 3 times a week. I PROMISE TO BE MORE DILIGENT. THANKS -------------------- lgoldie

I am using the Vaginal Health Probiotics and the Premarin cream AS DIRECTED FOR ONCE and "it" feels good. IF I have another issue, off to see the GNP. By the way, had my DH check out the fine china and he said it looks the same as always. My mom has actual scarring from her lichen schlerosis. -------------------- lgoldie

And???? What happened? I feel 100% better. Symptoms are all but gone...she put me on a Temovate, steroid cream tapering off to as needed. I cannot tell you how much better I feel. I think often times many have this condition and it is misdiagionsed. I'm so thankful that I found this doctor that has helped me. The funny part is how many from a urologist to another gyno looked at my "virginia" and didn't say one word about the way it looked! She immediately commented. |

I did not have lichen schlerosis BUT I did ask. My mom does and she has been using the steroid cream for at least 10 years. Keeps it in check!! Try 1% of OTC cortisol cream, it helps. I think your YI is from swinging hormones, I replied to your other post as well. YI are history for me, I was plagued during pregnancy and beyond, and it is related to P rise, so i would always have it around 3rd week of my cycle. Antibiotics are notorious for causing YI, so eat plain yogurt with live cultures, NO SUGAR OF ANY KIND, try carb controlled diet, and you will see good results.
