I posted this over in the Headache section, and thought it might bring more responses in this forum.

Are headaches a common side effect of Prempro?
I started the lowest possible dose of Prempro back in February, and recently, probably the past few weeks, I have had a headache DAILY. This isn't a migraine, I've had those before [while on BCPs], this is more of a tension-type headache, which radiates into my neck and shoulders.

Could this be from the Prempro?? unsure.gif

Dear 'rubysmom

I personally do not think it is a side effect of Prempro but anything is possible and should be checked out by your Doctor. What about an eye check up to make sure you aren't suffering from eye strain or poor vision

It is highly probable that these are tension headaches curtesy of Menopause.Anxiety causes us to tense up our muscle resulting in severe head, neck and back pain. The Doctor might suggest a muscle relaxant or a small dose of Xanax to zap the anxiety.

Yoga is a great form of slow gentle exercise as it stretches the spine and neck gently as it releases tension from those areas.Make sure too that your pillow is neither too soft or too hard.Usually one filled with duck's feathers is supportive without putting pressure on your head

Hope some of these suggestions prove useful

God Bless
Elizabeth

Dear Ruby's MOM:

The Headaches could be from the Prempro, and especially the MPA, (synthetic progestin), one of the ingredients. It could also be that you need a higher estrogen dose, for lack of estrogen can cause headaches. If you find the dose needs to be increased, then I would definitely check into our natural human identical hormone combination sublingual tablet to dissolve under the tongue twice a day every 12 hours instead. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you,
Pete Hueseman, R.Ph., P.D.
