I was dx'ed with a BV infection and used Metrogel for it. The itching and burning never stopped. I've been cultured twice since then and saw 2 nurse practitioners and a Gyno. No one knows why the itching and burning is occuring and they keep telling me the cultures come back negative. I am sore enough that clothing or anything touching my genetalia is painful. Some areas look a little puffy and some look a little red at times. The folds have a sort of thin whitish film that I rinse off. The time it feels best is right after I rinse off with cool to lukewarm water. After it dries though and feels tight itchy and sore. I was given a script for Yaz and some samples of Premarin cream to try because they think maybe it is hormones.
I don't know what to do. It's been three months of thisso far and it's getting old fast. I'm 38, married, and I'd like to have my sex life back. I really don't want to have to use the scripts because they are costly and I'd sure like something natural and less expensive if possible not to mention the hormones scare me. I'm not sure what to do. I have anxiety and am scared to death to take meds but am working on that too as best I can. Is there a big risk with the cream of side effects? What are "typical" dry from hormone symptoms?? I believe I may be in peri. I have severe PMS, depression, fibroids, heavy periods with large clots, bad cramping,do still have monthly periods, am anemic and on iron. I quit smoking in Feb of 2007 and devoloped hot flashes, night sweats and really bad PMS then. The night sweats have stopped thankfully but were bad early in the quit. My hormones haven't been the same since I quit smoking. |

This was one of my worst symptoms before I started birth control pills for my peri.I used a vinegar and water douche and vagisil cream. They seemed to help. Also try sitting in a warm bath with apple cider vinegar-this will soothe the itching. It sounds very much like peri and I hope you find relief soon.GOD-bless -------------------- GOD is my strength

What pill are you on and how is the dryness feeling now? How long did it take to notice any improvements from the pill? typical signs of vaginal dryness from low estrogen is an itching, or burning or stinging feeling, pain during sex, bleeding after sex, insufficient lubrication for penetration even when feeling aroused, and if it is severe enough pain from sitting or walking as your clothes rub on you. watery discharge is also a sign. this dryness eventually leads to vaginal atrophy if left untreated, so if I were you I would really fill that prescription. the risks of vaginal estrogen are lower than other forms, because it is a low dose and only a tiny amount gets into the blood stream, it is mainly absorbed where needed into the vaginal tissue. the risks increase if you stay on it more the 5 years.... the same as other hrt. it can take 6 weeks to notice improvement, longer if you already have vaginal atrophy. |

My hormones haven't been the same since I quit smoking. Dear changersareacoming When I was diagnosed with Menopause at 39,the Gyno.informed me that I had vaginal atrophy hence, the itching, dryness and tendency to yeast infections.I started HRT and after about six weeks started to feel the relief. This is not to scare you as many ladies do feel that way about synthetic hormones but what about trying the Bio-identical hormones which are used by many ladies on this Forum, with good results. Be sure to use only baby soap and warm water when washing and apply a light coating of KY Jelly for lubrication.Wear cotton panties or even go without whilst at home so the area has a chance to breathe. Good Luck and keep us informed Best Wishes Elizabeth |
