Love this forum.
Has anyone had hormone therapy with Sotto Pelle? Considering hormone thearpy to increase my energy ( I am a runner ), my libido, reduce weight gain and to increase my sense of well-being ( like when I was in my 30's). During my research I found that the Sotto Pelle female Estradiol and testosterone hormone is inserted under the skin to achieve a steady delivery of natural testostrone hormone into the blood stream. When women age their testosterone level drops which reduces muscle mass and women start gaining weight around the middle (spare tire), hips, thighs etc.... and mood swings, anxiety ( maybe to replace Zoloft ) and irritability. excerise alone doesn't help some women to keep the pounds and fat off. Although Sotto Pelle Therapy has been approved for human use, there are few doctor's who currently administer estradiol and testosterone pellets in the United States. The estadiol dosage that may be received can aggravate fibroids or polyps, if they exist, and cause bleeding. The doctor will want your last Pap smear report, Mammogram report and ultrasound for any fibroids. So, I wonder if anyone out there has tried the Sotto Pelle and what was their experince? I am working on getting all my blood work, pap smear, ultrasound and mammogram reports done before I consider the thearpy. I will update at a later date. |

While I've seen a post or two from women on other forums who love the implantable pellet, I would not want it or any combined hormone product for 3 reasons:
1. In a combined product, you will not know which one is helping or hurting. If you have adverse symptoms, you won't know which one is causing them. 2. You are unable to adjust the doses of the individual hormones as needed as you can when taking each one separately. 3. Once it's in, it's in, and if you don't feel that well you have to wait until it wears off. These are things to consider. Everyone's physiology is different and just because it works for well for one person, doesn't mean it will work for you. On the other hand, I would recommend getting tested for estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels and use those results as a starting point for dosing and then using the hormones individually. Dr. Elizabeth Vliet has some excellent books on hormones. The most well-known one is Screaming to be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Suspect, and Doctors Still Ignore (get the most recent version) and the other is just about testosterone: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Testosterone: How to Revitalize Your Sexuality, Strength and Stamina -------------------- I am not a doctor. My advice and opinions should not be taken as medical advice or diagnosis. They are just opinions based on extensive research and personal experience. I encourage everyone to explore all information about your health issues and discuss it with your doctor.

I've read some really bad stories about the pellets...due just to what Sariah said...sometimes it takes tweaking which costs you more money for the increase office visits....and some of those doctors are prescribing too much testosterone which leads to some "ugly" side effects...

I've had pellets for almost 5 years. They drastically changed my life for the better. Sotto Pelle is simply a brand that a doctor marketed. I do not get that brand, but they are mostly made from the same pharmacies.
A knowledgeable pellet doctor will start off with a dosage that is not too high. Their experience, combined with the woman's symptoms and blood tests are a pretty good determining factor on dosing to avoid any negative side effects. I know about 50+ women that have pellets. All say they are the best form of BHRT they've ever used. You can adjust the dosages, by getting more or less of each one. The estrogen and testosteron are NOT combined in the same pellet. I get 50mgs E and 75 mgs T. Also, if the dosage isn't right a committed doctor usually will not charge for tweaking. You don't have to get both either. Some women only get E and some only get T. If absolutely necessary, they can be removed. I have heard of a couple of women who said they were not helped. That is sad, because I believe their doctor didn't do their job well enough and get the dosage right or close in the first place. Nor will they willing to work with them. I will say that I think sometimes women in surgical menopause may do better on the pellets than those in natural menopause. |

Hi Skeeweeaka,
Not sure what you are meaning by optimized. If you can elaborate, I'll try to give my opinion. (not that that means much!!!) What site have you been visiting? I'm curious! Thanks! Njw By optimized, I am referring to feeling your best with zero symptoms! I've been visiting a yahoo group I think it's called hormone pellets but my memory has been failing me because I can't seem to find it this week lol.... I didn't join and you could view the posts without joining but again I can't seeem to find it. There was also a doctor that frequented the board and answered questions... Most of the women were bubbly they were so happy. I noticed that the age range was from 30's to 60's... Hey everyone's opinion is important... If it's not for me, I simply bypass it, lately at least because I don't need the stress that debates seem to cause on these boards! TJ -------------------- May We All Find Some Sort of Peace!!! I would like to say I tried Sotto Pellets. I have no problem with them. Hot flashes were gone within 3 days of insertion. I am on my secound set. They lasted about 6 months for me. I work at a Hospital in Tallassee, Alabama. Several of my co workers have received them as well and are very happy with the benefits of them. deblee |

I have had the sotto pellets since 11/07 and only get re-inserts every 6 mos. I have been very pleased with the results.
I am now 48yrs old and the hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety etc started when I was 41yrs old. I tried to tolerate the symptoms for years and they eventually became unbearable. I was prescribed Zoloft when I was 45yrs old and it helped but the side efforts (weight gain) were not fun. I was skeptical about the pellets but did my own research and my dr assured me that she could remove them if necessary. I gave them a try and I have no complaints. I also take Prometrium 100 - I could not tolerate 200. I am a happy camper for now. good luck to all - |

The pellets work for a lot of people, just like the other methods of delivery, they have their ups and downs. As someone stated in the previous post, everyones body is different and it's really about finding the delivery method that best suits YOU!

I am on BHRT in gel form. I know by now, what dose works for me. The pellets sound very convenient. I would not have to think twice a day about the hormones. Getting them every 6 months will be fine with me. Is progesterone also in the pellets, or only estrogen and testosterone?
Thank you Ladies! I'm so glad I can get your opinion on this site. |

I've read some really bad stories about the pellets...due just to what Sariah said...sometimes it takes tweaking which costs you more money for the increase office visits....and some of those doctors are prescribing too much testosterone which leads to some "ugly" side effects... TJ I have just recently started having the SottoPelle pellets. My sister kept telling me I needed to see her Dr. since she could tell I wasn't myself. I am almost 54 and haven't had hot flashes or nightsweats but I just had no energy, was totally ADD, no interest in anything - going out, sex, nothing and I am a very social and outgoing person normally. I had my bloodwork done and I was way off on everything! Once I got my first pellet, all that changed! I had energy, could focus, no more down in the dumps for no reason, major change in libitdo, looked better - just felt like a normal person again. I just got my second pellet inserted almost a month ago. I feel better than when I knew the first one was wearing off but I don't seem to have as much of an effect this time. And, even though I haven't had a period in years, I just had a full-fledged one for at least 7-8 days! My sister said she gets a booster and that helps her effects last longer so only has pellets inserted twice a year. I have to say it is much better than how I was feeling before beginning. Hoping now the period is over I will see better results. I have a prescription also that I am to have filled by a compounding pharmacy for Progestrine. Having trouble finding that pharmacy even though I live in good sized city. Had the prescription the first time but never did find a pharmacy and totally forgot about it! Any feedback??? |
