I went to drop my daughter off to see my mother this afternoon. My mom says you have a rash on your neck. I said no I dont, it does not itch. Well, hello anxiety! As soon as I got in the truck I am looking in the mirror and sure enough, my neck is red from my voicebox down to my collarbone. It does not itch or anything. I am wondering what the heck this is. I freak out every time something out of the ordinary pops so please help me with this.

Can anyone say what it is and if they have had it before? Is it bothersome? Does it become bothersome? Does it mean something bad is happening? Oh Lord I hate this and it scares me silly!!!!!!!

Hugs to you all,
Jeaninne

Do you have sensitive skin? It could just be your clothing rubbing against your neck. If you're using a different soap, laundry detergent, etc., it could also be a reaction. Sorry I'm not more help - but, honestly, I bet it's nothing too serious.

(I used to break out in a rash on my neck when I got nervous.)

Okay, this might sound weird. Do you use your cell phone a lot? There was a tidbit on one of the Sunday morning health programs about "cell phone dermatitis". Its apparently a rash that many people have been getting from using their cell phones a lot. It generally runs from the ear down the side of the neck. I believe they said it was caused by an allergic reaction to lead that's used in some parts of the phones. It's something like what some rings will do to your fingers -- make them red and bumpy.

Hi Jeaninne

I had a rash like that last March. My mother was also the one to point it out to me. Like yours it did not itch and went away the next day. Like the other ladies mentioned it could be from laundry detergent or maybe even the change in temperature. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Take care
Tara
