Has anyone tried fish oil for libido problems? I just got finished reading a book call the "Orgasmic Diet" and it recommends fish oil. I just wondered if any of you have tried it. I am 48 and in peri. I have just recently started having issues in the labido area. I am a breast cancer survivor so hormones are out of the question for me.
Thanks! |

I too take high quality EFAs (Nordic Naturals) and my sex drive is still in flatline status. The EFAs have helped my anxiety a little bit when I upped the DHA dosage, but do I "feel" that "special feeling"? Nope.

I've been taking fish oil for 2 years and the most remarkable effect, probably in conjunction with a revised diet and evening primrose oil, has been a 70 point drop in my LDL, and a 10 point rise in my HDL. Libido seems to be (unhappily) unaffected.

I don't know about fish oil and libido. I started taking some for health reasons/ bp and heart. I am taking one a day. 1,000 mgs with optimal EPA/DHA balance. It's Omega 3. My question is it better to take one that is all Omega 3 or take one that has Omega 3, 6, and 9 in it? Thanks! Pam

Have you read up on Macca...natural root? I am not sure if it is right for you or not as it does play on the pituitary and adrenals and also that may effect hormones...but it does help some in the libido area...certainly helped my husband....unfortunatly for me the adrenal effect was a bit too strong and hyped me up a bit too much...may work for you though! I am just entering menopause apparently and like you ladies am truly fed up with it. I have recently started fish oil but really for low mood and depression, I suppose it could help libido if your mood
and hormones balance out abit. One thing I would recommend for low libido at menopause is stinging nettle, it raises free testosterone and therefore helps libido. |
