Sometimes but not always when a period has just ended or is coming to a end... I feel slight vaginal irritation and at times it almost feels as if a Bladder or UTI infection is trying to come on...
Is this weird or what??? Now it doesn't happen every time thank goodness but every other month it seems... Does anyone else see to have this problem.. I have change brands of Pads and even with that it doesn't help. I guess just one more thing to add to the joys of being a female Thanks Everyone sdblue |

I had this problem my last year of having cycles. My doc said that with the heavy bleeding, and the days and days of brown "spotting," my uterus was irritated. It was an awful sore/burning discomfort! I took ibuprofen, and sometimes sat on my hot-water bottle.
The good news is that in post-menopause, this (along with sore breasts and a bunch of other peri problems) is GONE. (((HUGS))) JJ -------------------- The sky and sun are always there; it's the storms and clouds that come and go.

Add me to the list of sufferers. I really thought it was a UTI, but, alas... I was never so disappointed in NOT having a UTI!

I used to do this right before my period.I would itch so badly and burn!!! I got to the point of crying it was so bad.I used to buy myself a vinegar and water douche. It really relieved the itching and burning and made me feel instant relief.Maybe you could try that,as vinegar is supposed to help your PH balance.GOD-bless

I've been having a similar problem over the past year! Usually during the third day of my period I begin having an intense itch in the vaginal area and become really red, even on the insides of my legs. I've about decided its a sudden allergic reaction to the pads I use, though I've used the same brand my entire life! Or maybe a sudden reaction to soap. The itching just about goes away by the time my next period starts, then it begins all over again. I have my yearly exam tomorrow, and I don't know whether I should feel embarrassed about the redness and itching or not. I'll be 50 next month, and this is the first time in my life I've ever had anything like this. Hopefully I can get some info from the dr. about it.

I'm interested in what the other ladies have to say about it as well. |

Anna I was starting to think maybe it was something with the pads I was using that was irritating. I tried alternating with three different kinds this time and it was better. But I swear, every month at the end I feel like I have a vaginal infection. Just irritation I guess??? As much as I love Always - I'm wondering if maybe because they pull the moisture away (so you feel dry and comfortable)... If they're not making us extra dry down there????? And I thought it was just me!!! Thank you all for bringing this up at a time when I was starting to worry (again). |

Ok ladies! This is from an oldie but goody who has been postal for 8 years!! I started having the vaginal itching about four years before my period ended at 55. It always happened at the end of my period. It was explained to me through literature, etc. that the reason was that my hormones were at an all time low towards the end of my menstrual years and my periods; both Estrogen and Progesterone. I remember the itching and irritation. It has ceased to exist in the last 7 years. Yipee.

That's a bright spot to look forward to, SusanC. I had my yearly today and brought up the itching, which always starts toward the latter end of my period and tapers off toward the beginning of my next. The PA was nodding her head before I said even a few words, and said that the itching is a common symptom. She did give me a Fluconazole tablet and some steriodal cream just to be on the safe side, as she also said it could indicate a yeast infection. Yea! -- if my pap comes back negative I won't need another for three years! Yea! She also did an HPV test while doing the pap -- have any of you ladies discovered this? Apparently its something automatically done now.
