Hi ladies!
I don't know if this is the right place or not, but I think Cenestin is synthetic since it's made from plants! Has anyone had any experience with this drug? I've been on it for 2-3 years now, along with medroxyprotesterone. My hot flashes, night sweats, etc., were controlled well, but I'm still have a really hard time with anxiety and nerves! I go to several different doctors, but they each treat different things, so sometimes I think you just have to try and diagnose yourself!! My doctor started to switch me to premarin, but didn't. Any experience with premarin? I don't know what to do, but after 3 years, just need some relief! (I do take lexapro and ativan for nerves, but feel like there's something else wrong.) By the way, I haven't had a period since April 2007, but do have some spotting and bleeding from time to time! ANY advice would be appreciated!! |

Dear 'joette' Have no experience with this particular drug.I am on Ageliqu and still experience some breakout bleeding and spotting.Like you night time flashes and flushes fairly well controlled but still bouts of insomnia. As far as Anxiety is concerned I do use Zanax as needed and it does a fairly good job. However, you are right about being your own Doctor! Am sorry you are having such a difficult time but sometimes switching to a different HRT might be the answer as I was on a different one before Angeliqu and it does suit me better. Take care and hope you get some solid info. from all the dear ladies here. Bless You Elizabeth |

Hi Joette,
Cenestin is synthetic, not because it is plant-based, but because it is not bioidentical to the estrogen your body makes. You are also taking a synthetic progestin. Maybe you'd feel better with bioidentical hormones like the Climara or Vivelle patch or oral Estrace and Prometrium for your progesterone. There are also several types of bioidentical creams and gels on the market (Estrogel and Divigel are a couple that come to mind). Your doctor can prescribe these and you can get them from any pharmacy just like Cenestin or Premarin. If you are not feeling well, you should definitely try something different. Hope you feel better soon! |
