I have experienced several different kinds of hot flashes ... the prickly intense flash, the can't cool down after exerting myself flash, the night sweats which sometimes occur in the daytime ...
And now I think I can add to my repertoire the oh so fun nauseating flash. Unless I'm sick, I'll find out in a while I guess ! -------------------- I wish all of you the best of luck ! Remember, whether your peri or fully menopausal, TRY BHRT FIRST ! You might be surprised at how well it relieves your symptoms and how many unexpected benefits you experience ! I feel better now at age 48 than I did at age 40 !

Yes, I've had those hot flashes with a nauseous feeling, too. They were just occasional. I don't get them anymore.

Yes, I get nauseated with or without hot flashes. Often times I'm awakened by the nausea when I manage to actually SLEEP. Nausea can cause anxiety in me. As a matter of fact, digestive issues of any kind can send me into anxiety/panic oblivion,

I did have morning sickness nausea some time ago. At first I thought it was the vitamins I was taking ! I threw nearly an entire bottle out and bought a different brand ... and continued to have nausea. It was so bad that a few times I actually puked a little bit, most times I would just get that awful full-body vibrating horrible feeling and have to put my head down. This is the first time I've felt it in the middle of the day. I wonder what causes it, perhaps a sharp rise in estrogen ? I've never been pregnant, I don't know when morning sickness usually occurs ... beginning of pregnancy or end ? Anyway, I guess what I felt today was indeed just from the hormones because I feel almost completely normal now.
It makes me sad to know that every day millions of women go through this kind of stuff, some far worse than what I'm experiencing. The medical community has left us in the dust, I guess improperly inflating penises are far more important than women's well-being and comfort. -------------------- I wish all of you the best of luck ! OK, I just did some searches and it looks like morning sickness is attributed to rising estrogen.

OK, I just did some searches and it looks like morning sickness is attributed to rising estrogen. quote name=Simba 2 date= July 16th 2008 Sandra, this is just what I have experienced. I have had this off and on for all of the time I have been experiencing the worst of the menopausal symptoms which for me is now a horrible three and a half years. Sometimes it just disappears thankfully. At present it has reared up again. About a week ago, I was in a really hot shop, had a big hot flash and felt nauseous. Have felt queezy off and on for the last week, especially in the morning. Did suffer from nausea in the first three months of pregnancy but that thankfully stopped. Went out for a meal the other day but cant say I felt like it. Hope this particular symptom goes away again soon. Dont know if HRT would help or if anyone knows if it would. I have looked nausea and menopause up and have found out that it is pretty common. I wonder if natural progesterone cream might help. This is one of the really horrid menopausal symptoms isn't it. I am glad to find this post! I have skipped a period, and my hot flashes have returned with a vengeance. They get so intense, I feel very sick to my stomach. Lately I have been feeling very queasy off and on all day, and when the flashes come, it gets really bad. I, too, have been wondering if I was sick or if this was just more hormonal fun.

Hello gardenbear.
Well well what do you know. I too have had my flushes back over the last three weeks with a vengenance indeed. The nausea is awful like when I was pregnant 29 years ago. It really is horrible because not too much helps the nausea for me although stemitil has helped me lately . However I only take it when I am desperate. I seem to be having a lot of reflux as well. No matter what anyone tells us I am sure it is to do with the hormones. When we are very young getting periods we go through it. Pregnant same story and now I feel very similar to how I felt when I was about 16 . The difference being that at that time I did not suffer from anxiety as I do now. Somehow when we were younger we were able to handle the changes in our bodies and our lives much easier than now. This is my experience. The thing is I also have the head that feels so full I dont know how to explain it my ears seems full and then they have a ringing time as well do you have this at all? I found the best way is to pray a lot and have the support of all the special people on this forum. Once again our thanks to all who have made this possible. God Bless Flying Fairy who is still off balance a lot |

HI, yes sign me up for the nauseating hot flash club too and how awful they are. I get the 'normal' flashes but then just lately, I get the hot flashes at night and feeling horribly nauseous. My last period was the lightest one I think I've ever had so I'm guessing that this is all in line with my declining hormones. Great, huh?

Yes Ladies
We are all having such fun and games!Try sipping hot water with lemon. It honestly helps with the nausea. For night sweats have heard some ladies have used Evening Primrose with success.. Am on HRT,synthetic, but still have some flushes and flashes and feel sick to my stomach which bloats like a balloon. If it weren't for the fact that I am 57 and Menopausal since 39 would swear I was pregnant. However,it would have to be a very un-immaculate conception!as my husband is having very low Testerone so no 'fun and games' at this end! God Bless you all Elizabeth |

God Bless you all Elizabeth quote name = Simba 2 date =Sept 12 2008 Ladies, wouldn't you think that we would have some explanation for what causes the nausea. Is it low oestrogen or is it the high FSH or LH levels. Would love to know, only know it is hormonal. Had a horrible feeling last night when I felt really nauseous then, thank goodness, it wore off. Have been waking with sort of morning sickness feeling off and on and have had to force something down and just struggle on. What a struggle it is, if only things would get better. Have tried taking travel sickness pills and think they have helped a bit. Sometimes I wonder if I would be better without these spluttering ovaries but then think not. Would have to get some hormones from somewhere then! So confusing. |

[Yup, I'm in this nausea group, too. Have been having it almost non-stop for about a year. Once in awhile, it eases up a bit. Anxiety definately makes it worse. It's especially bad for me in the morning, too. Carnation Instant Breakfast is easy to get down for some quick nutrition. I also got the acid reflux that started with it, but I have medicine to control that. Haven't found anything that really kills the nausea. My night sweats are really bad now, too - 3-4/night. On another post, I actually asked the question about HRT helping nausea and several women responded saying that Yes, it did help them. I'm 51 and have only had 3 light periods in the past year. I MUST be getting near the end!

Good news--they go away in post. At least mine did. I used to have awful flashes when I got dizzy and so nauseated that I had to stop what I was doing and sit down to wait it out. As I waited, I'd suddenly have this horrible depressed feeling, too. I called them "torpedo" flashes because I felt as if I'd been hit with one. As I chugged along through meno, they seemed to get less intense. Now, I'm in post, and while I still do get flashes, there is no more nausea and dizziness.

I live in hope. Some days it definitely lifts, it is just that dread of it being there. You seem to become anxious almost waiting for it to rear up and this obviously doesn't help. Things can seem so totally out of control at this time that it totally saps your confidence. I personally vasillate between thinking I will try HRT and then thinking no because of risks involved - it drives me nuts. The whole ride can really get a girl down. Love Simba 2 |

The medical community has left us in the dust, I guess improperly inflating penises are far more important than women's well-being and comfort. Sandra, Morning sickness is first couple months usually, although not every women experiences it. I have 2 children, been pregnant, and never had it in my life. I am not sure if this is estrogen that causes it, to my knowledge it is rising progesterone that causes morning sickness, actually not the hormones itself but it's nasty metabolites. i recall having really bad dizziness during first 2 months of my 1st pregnancy, no morning sickness but just dizziness and sleepiness, I could sleep standing. The vibrating and buzzing are not new to me now, it is caused by adrenalin surges aka ANXIETY attack or Panic Attack, that is notorious for making one nauseated and even bad one can make you vomit. Although I never get nauseated to the point of puking. I only get slight stomach pit feeling right before my period, but vibrations and buzzing increase definitely. I am surprised that you getting flashes, consider your estrogen level is high based on your test results. Hot flashes are sign if low estrogen, or rather high FSH. I get usually a night sweat during ovulation time and right before my period, so it is a sign of hormonal swings. And to the fairness, addressing inflating penises ( not like I really want to defend males with EDs): HRT was around for 50+ years!!!!!!!!! Women who are not afraid of conventional HRT, had a tool to deal with hot flashes and other crappy symptoms of menopause for a while now. Many older women who started on HRT back in their 50s, still using it. There are multiple choices now: pills, patches, gels, vaginal suppositories, pellets, conventional HRT, boidentical hormones, combination, even testosterone previously not even mentioned for women is available too. If a women is not satisfied with pharmaceutical formulation, there are compound pharmacies to her service, just use it. But Big Pharma only developed Vigra for men quite recently, and there are 2-3 variety of this med on the market in comparison to more than a dozen of pharmaceutical hormonal formulations. There is also one for women, Levitra. My point is, there are many options to lessen misery of menopause. BTW, I recall you were using Bioidentical progesterone, which is helpful for some women. Oh, and there are hundreds natural, herbal, and homeopthic remedies for menopause and OTC preparations. Just give it a try, and if these does not help, we also have ADs and benzos to the resque. Best, I. -------------------- I feel like there is a party going inside me ...but I am not invited

Hi lady E, I can sympathise totally with what you are going through at the moment. I got this type of problem at the very height of my hot flash problems. In order to cope, I think it helps if you remember: The hot flash thing is a journey with a start, a middle and an end. (yes I'm sure that we will get the odd mild flash when we are 80 but who cares?) Hot flashes are well documented and sadly normal for menopausal ladies. Sigh! Regard the hot flash phase, as like a hurricane that passes over you, secure in the knowledge that a storm, by its very nature, does not go on forever. The eye of the storm is always going to be the worst. If you have reached the nausea stage you are well on and getting closer to the end of the journey! Be positive. When you feel one coming on, say to yourself, I know what this is and I am not afraid! Take action by sitting down, if you are able and if you are at home sit in front of a fan as the whoosh sweeps over you. I got to the point where I could actually halt a hot flash and the resultant nausea, in its tracks. If you are in the car give yourself a blast with the AC. Look upon the hot flash in a positive sense. It is your body learning to function without being bathed in oestrogen. It is not the sign of some terrible illness. Do carry a hand fan everywhere you go and use it at the first sign of trouble. These nausea type flashes are about as severe as they get and you may find that they are accompanied by lots of tingling and numbness in yours hands and feet. Again it is time for positive thinking. If you have reached this stage you are doing really well! One day soon you will suddenly realise that you can't remember when you had your last severe hot flash. Hang in there, I am convinced that relief is just around the corner! |

Hi PS sisters,
Does anyone get the nauseated feeling, hot flash and buzzing? Then feel really, really hungry at the same time. How weird is that? That has been my feeling last week. I hate the hunger/nauseated feeling. It is so strange. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because all of this for the past year and a half has been so incredibly horrid and scary. If only a knowledgeable person could sit down one on one and explain things ... a coach so to speak ... instead of the quick doctor visit with no answers or just a brush off of "it's peri menopause". Thank goodness for this website. I have learned more here than anywhere else. janeann |

Thank you for the insight XIII Chasey Hi Chasey, It is really nice to be able to give some reassurance over these hot flashes. They left me reeling and at one stage started to interfere with my life very badly. I was almost afraid to go anywhere or do anything. I just couldn't control my temperature and the flashes made me panic because I felt as if I were going to loose control in public because of them. Recently, I am much improved and tonight I went to a Queen concert and survived being squashed in with 10,000 people. It was very hot and noisey and I survived with no problem. I even felt well enough 'rock' with the best of them! Cheers, XIII |

Well not today anyway! Lots of love to all the meno ladies who are struggling along side me! XIII |
