Hi!
I am looking for anyone who might know what I am going through. I have been diagnosed with low progesterone and adrenal fatigue. I have been getting rashes where my arms break out horribly. My elbows even start to swell. Then it will slowly move to my chest and face. It makes me feel like my face is burning off. I thought it was from lotion, as it happened twice with two different lotions. But then today, with no lotion put on, I got to work and my arms were swelling and I had little red dots all over. And now again I feel like my face is burning!!

My doctor has ordered a low dose of cortisone. Has anyone had this??? Please let me know your experiences and/or experiences with the low cortisone. I am really nervous!!

Thanks!
Denise

Have you considered that you might have Dermatitis herpetiformis? I was not officially diagnosed with adrenal fatigue but I had all the symptoms and I had undergone some tremedous stress along with peri. (Death of my dad, Grandmother, Son in Iraq, it was all at the same time without a reprieve, I was able to stay strong during it but afterwards when I finally let my breath out, my body rebelled.)

I gave up all gluten products and started focusing on only good foods, eliminating all the junk from my diet. Since them I feel as though I'm somewhat repaired. I still occasionally get that 'fight or flight' adrenal rush for no reason but for the most part it's calmed down.

To treat adreanal fatigue you have to really baby yourself and do everything right. Sleep and diet are more important than ever, learn to relax etc... Here is some info on DH. Are you feeling hot all over? It could just be flushing from your hormones. If your low progesterone have you considered OTC progesterone cream?

Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a severe, itchy, blistering skin manifestation of celiac disease. Not all people with celiac disease develop dermatitis herpetiformis. The rash usually occurs on the elbows, knees, and buttocks. Unlike other forms of celiac disease, the range of intestinal abnormalities in DH is highly variable, from minimal to severe. Only about 20 percent of people with DH have intestinal symptoms of celiac disease.

To diagnose DH, the doctor will test the person’s blood for autoantibodies related to celiac disease and will biopsy the person’s skin. If the antibody tests are positive and the skin biopsy has the typical findings of DH, patients do not need to have an intestinal biopsy. Both the skin disease and the intestinal disease respond to a gluten-free diet and recur if gluten is added back into the diet. In addition, the rash symptoms can be controlled with medications such as dapsone (4’,4’diamino-diphenylsuphone). However, dapsone does not treat the intestinal condition and people with DH should also maintain a gluten-free diet.

Hi Denise,
I feel really bad for you. I was in adrenal fatigue about 12 months ago and I agree the only way to deal with it is to really look after yourself. I found that progesterone cream really helped. It took a couple of weeks to kick in but it did gradually assist me. Cortisone is okay, don't worry. You may also benefit from one of those long lasting antihistamines available from the pharmacy. Adrenal fatigue can be really debilitating, I know, and is not commonly spoken about. It nearly completely drained me but I can say that with a good diet, lots of sleep, relaxation and self care, I have nearly completely recovered. It does take time and you deserve to give yourself what you need to recover also. Let me know how you're getting on and if you need support. Not many of friends understood what I was going through so it made it a little hard. I know what you're going through so take care.

Gabby,

Thank you. I also am on progesterone cream. I have to really play with it though as the amount I was told to take was making me to tired. So I am still playing with it. I thought I was getting better, better than the dying phase, and now it is these rashes. Benedryl seems to help, but it kicks my butt! So, I will keep plugging along. At least the dizzy, foggy, anxiety stuff is at bay for now!

Denise, I also got rashes, always on my leg right above my knee. Looked like hives...I never knew why they came, (as in allergic to something I'd eaten - or from stress). But I too have adrenal fatigue and wow....it's nasty stuff. I'm completely drained by mid afternoon and have to take a nap, so sleep, nap or relaxation is an absolute must!

If you don't have a list of adrenal fatigue symptoms, PM me and I'll send them to you. As for the progesterone cream...if it's OTC, try using one squirt at night right before bed. I keep mine on the night stand, so once I'm in bed, I just pick a spot and rub some on. To much progesterone cream can make you sleepy, but there are worse things. (calm is much better than anxious...believe me!)

Hope that helps girl!

Hugs
Tay

I just came across this post after I posted my thread on my recurring rash problem. This makes sense, as my chiropractor told me that my adrenal function is low. Hmmm.

Well, off to do some research on the web about this condition. Meantime, he had given me a supplement a few visits ago for my adrenals. I'm afraid i didn't take it seriously enough at the time, so I'm starting back on it today.

This web site has helped me in so many ways already! God bless you all! smile.gif

Hi ladies,

count me in! I have been itching on my LEFT arm only....like crazy! It started on the forearm, and then, worked it's way up to the upper part of the left arm, around the elbow (BADLY). It was worse at night. It comes and goes, it seems.
There are "good days" and "bad days" with this itching. Yes, i also noticed little red dots, as if you had taken a pin, and poked yourself a number of times, and these "dots" are reddish. They itch like crazy. I've been told so many different opinions on this, I feel like I"m going crazy! You definatley can't sleep, and I think the "mole" or whatever it was, on the innerside, of my upper left arm (recently) may have been due to this "itching", whatever it really is! This "mole" looked like a mole,,.but then, within a month, changed shape a number of times, got lighter, and now, has pretty much flaked off ... it got dry! (yes, so this "mole" thing, was on the same arm, where i had been scratching). I do also get that itching in other places, but not half as bad! MAINLY MY LEFT ARM! It is getting better now, after about 2 mos. of this! I tried all sorts of anti-itch creams, they didn't really help ... I'd have to say that Caladryl helped the most. I have taken Benedryl also, which does help.

I am thinking this is all hormonal. ... at this stage of the game, it seems like EVERYTHING IS HORMONAL!
