I wonder if this is also a peri symptom- Recently,I seem to be reacting to BP medications-diuretics and ace inhibitors with rashes and itching.I have not been on any medication now for about three weeks and I am still itching.I hve also noted that I have lost the hair on my brows.I m really anxious and my BP is rising while I can not use medications to lower it.I am on no salt diet and the BP has been stuck at 140/90.
I am really confused-any suggestions on the itching? Any on the BP control? |

Hypothyroidism causes early graying and eyebrow hair loss. Left untreated, you will lose leg hair, arm hair and "private parts" hair.
You might have your physician check your thyroid. |

Clariton will stop the itching. I have it too. Just take 1 Clariton every 24 hours but look into the reason why you are itching with your Dr! Itching can be thyroid or diabetes!! |

I went through something similar with my B/P medication. The first script the doctor put me on (Topral XL) made me break out in a rash after about 4 months of use. Then he tried Lisinopril, after 3 months the itching was driving me nuts. I have been taking Diovan for several months now without any rashes or itching. Your B/P very well could be the cause of your itching, my itching lasted a couple of months after I changed to Diovan.

I itch constantly since my periods stopped. I think as we get older, we don't realize how dry our skin gets. I think the other ladies have good suggestions, this could def be a reaction to medication. But please get your thryoid checked...I did and I found out mine was practically non existent. Since I started thryoid meds, a lot of my symptoms (and the itching) have improved...but I still find I have to use a lot of moisturizer or I'm scratching myself to death. Hope this helps!
PS Have you tried Benadryl cream? It worked well for me... |

I had the itchies one time, I think, maybe two. I haven't had any BP medications, or any other medications~~~but, benadryl worked WONDERS for me. I took the oral liquid. It kept me off the ceiling. Check out the posts I sent on it. Good luck with that, longlife~~

I had the itchies very badly before I started BHRT, and now I do not itch, so for me it had to be hormonal itching.
As for the BP, my Significant other had very high BP, but being a stupid male, he would not take meds. So I found some natural supplements called BP Essentials and at his last doctor's appointment, his BP was normal for the first time in a decade. I would highly recommend looking at them as an option. His BP reading at his previous doctor's appointment was 170/102....this time it was 121/80, and he was nervous too!! I would also suggest you get a full thyroid panel done, just to make sure! -------------------- Is there anything better than the love of a dog? Enjoy life. |

i am itching now! i used to keep my nails short, but not anymore, by golly.
it comes and goes, with or without meds. i itched for weeks, and then nothing for awhile. it is back since last week, i am hoping it goes into "remission" soon. cooler showers help, and benadryl. on the subject of itching: who enjoys sex more? men or women? well, when your ear itches, and you stick your finger in it to scratch it, which one feels better? your finger or your ear? hahahahahaha (hope i can say that here) |
