What I experience is not an inside bone chilling cold but a sudden outside on the skin, goosepimple cold. does anyone elsh have this. Out of the blue, in the warm and no reason for it. It's scaring me!! It last a few minutes. Thank goodness I found someone who has the goosebump chills. I thought I was coming down with something but I never got sick. It happens several times a day. Then I get the cold sweat feeling like you are feverish. I am due for my period any day now and it seems to be worse around that time. I was taking black cohosh and stopped only because I haven't gone to buy more. Maybe the sudden stop contributed as well because they weren't as bad when I was taking it. And the night sweats? They don't come on gradually......one day they just start along with the insomnia. Anyone else with the same peri symptoms? Shannon |

Wow, I just had one last night. It lasted a couple of hours and I was so cold. My hands, feet, cheeks and nose were so cold. The worst feeling of all was the shivering that was going on. It almost felt like I was really sick. I forced myself to get up and heat the herb pack up in the microwave and cuddle it close until I woke up really HOT. My cheeks were so warm and my feet were really hot. So, I had to take the socks off my feet and the blankets off of me and then try to go back to sleep. I really hate this. I had never heard of a cold flash but glad to know now that there is such a thing. The other morning I woke up and with the same symptoms, I thought I must be getting a fever or something. I was completely chilled and shaking all over. It went away after a little bit. thanks for enlightening me so now I know |

I have the absolute worst cold chills that last for HOURS almost everyday at the same time. I have curled up into a fetal position, coat and blankets on top of me trying to get warm and still cannot even begin to touch the cold...........and this happens in the middle of a Florida summer!! Somedays I sweat profusely in the morning and have shivering cold flashes in the afternoon and early evening! It may have let up for a little bit, but not for very long! I need to know.............is there an end to this madness?? Good Question...an end to the madness??? I go around asking little old ladies at church, How did you get through it? Most act like it was either no big deal or have obviously blanked it out. big help. I have no sisters, mom had a stroke, so not much help. The cold spells are scary. I cannot get warm. Usually happens after a nap. How odd is that? God help us live thru this. We will be big helps to younger generations now that it is not taboo to whine about it, I had NO idea what to expect....my new motto is EXPECT IT ALL -------------------- lgoldie

They don't come on gradually......one day they just start along with the insomnia. Anyone else with the same peri symptoms? Shannon Just joined this morning after googling cold flashes. It came to me that that is what I've been experiencing. I've had them for a couple years I think (memory goes too, I gather), and it's comes and goes. I get the goosebumps and the chills (tho I don't seem to shiver) and it can come in waves or be pretty constant, as it is right now. I've been cold for a couple days now. My temp has always been a degree or two low, and I guess I've always been a bit cold. But I don't do well in the heat -- I sort of wilt mentally and physically. I've assumed that's related to my diabetes (don't remember why I thought that -- boy this mental fog thing is a real drag!). It dawned on me I must be in menopause and that my cold flashes are what my friends have been experiencing as hot flashes. I seldom get hot (tho it has happened recently -- not so much a flash as a feeling of being too hot once or twice). I haven't had a period for a couple years, and before that, maybe once or twice a year. So I know it's time. I'm 57. I'm so glad to find I'm not the only one going thru this. No one I ask seems to have heard of it before. Now I'll check out the rest of the site and see what else I can find out. 8-] Ellen |

Had a cold flash Saturday night. My mother witnessed it -- saw the goosebumps and everything. Only lasted about 30 secs. Crazy.
The weirdest one was about two weeks ago at work. I work in a machine shop wihich is in a big metal building with no insulation or A/C, so it's pretty hot in there (yes hot. I'm in TX so it's already hit 90 here). Anyway, it was hot and humid in the shop, and yet for about a minute I started shivering and getting goosebumps. Had my arms wrapped around me like it was 40 degrees, and actually it was about 85 with 70% humidity. I'm glad nobody saw me. I'd be writing this from a rubber room. -------------------- Webalina

Have you tried this?
Hi everyone, I'm new and also having hot flashes day & night. I just realized I also had a cold flash from reading here. Today suddenly my legs and feet felt icy to the bone. I live in Palm Springs, Ca and it's about 110 degress today! I had to get in bed to warm myself up! My story is... I haven't had a period now for over 4 months and in the last 3 months my menopause symptoms have become much worse. The hot flashes at night wake me 3 to 4 times and I never feel rested in the morning. Lately, I'm tired, no energy, I've gained weight in my mid section (feel bloated all the time), more emotional, irritable, have trouble motivating myself to work out or do anything and overall feel bad. I am looking for information on natural forms of what has and hasn't worked for some of you? I was going to try "SottoPelle" a natural hormone therapy. Has anyone here heard of it and/or tried this? First, I wanted to know if Amberen works and if it's safe to use? Please let me know if any of you ladies on here have used Amberen or SottoPelle or what you have used and what has worked for you. Thank you, I'm at my witts end trying to find ways to feel better naturally. I take the menopause herbs and vitamins from my local health food store but they don't do much. I also take sage pills. I was told by my German friend that sage helps with hot flashes and it does work sometimes but the suggested dosage only last a couple hours, it doesn't last through the night and sometimes not at all. It use to work better for me until my hot F's became worse. It still works for my friend for those who wish to try sage pills. Sorry this post is so long and thanks for any help or advice you might have! Warmly (but not too hot or cold Debi |

Hi Debi,
I tried many different supplements and herbs, and every combination thereof. I did not want to go on hormones, but it came down to quality of life and I started using bio estradiol and am very please with how it works. Be careful on the Amberen thread that's here as it seems there is a spammer or two on there that keeps reviving the thread with posts that make it appear as thought she is just another peri sister who found a miracle cure. It may be the same for some of the posts about SottoPelle. Maybe consider having your serum levels of estradiol checked if nothing else works for you. I wish you luck going the natural route. It worked for me in the beginning of peri, but there came a point at which nothing but hormones would help. -------------------- I am not a doctor. Sorry this post is so long and thanks for any help or advice you might have! Warmly (but not too hot or cold Debi I actually tried the Sotto Pellet (went to the Palm Desert office of Dr. Tutero). I only used the Testosterone pellets. However, this was 2 years ago and I was feeling pretty crappy. He did some blood work and said my T was a little low. I didn't really notice a lot of improvement but come to find out all my symptoms were from having anemia which mimic a lot of peri symptoms. Many women swear by the pellets. The only thing about pellets is that there is a slow release into your system and there really isn't any tweaking like there is with creams. But, at least you live close to the office and can go in there. I lived 2 hours away so it wasn't easy for me to drop in if I needed any tweaking or whatnot. It is expensive for the first visit but i think it is worth a shot. I wish I could tell you I noticed a major improvement but as i said my issues ended up being due to anemia, once that was treated I felt 100% better. However, 2 years later and Ughhhh!! I have had the bone chilling cold flashes, it literally ached to my bones, where I was shivering and covered in blankets curled up in a very tight fetal position. This whole transition is for the birds.... but what can a girl do except ride it out with as much humor and grace as his humanly possible and when that fails throw a temper tantrum... lol -------------------- Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home..

Warmly (but not too hot or cold Debi Dear 'Debbielee Like Sariah have unfortunately found that or vitamin of herbal supplement ever did a thing for me. I am on HRT-synthetic no access to Bios. in this Country. However,I do not doubt that many ladies have had success with these Herbs. Probably it is a matter of our Physiology, as we all react so differently to all Meds. Herbs etc. Anyway continue on trying to find something that hopefully will work for you Sometimes it is a real matter of trial and error. All the Best Elizabeth |

Dear 'Sariah' Am so pleased that the bio-estradoil is working well for you As I mentioned we only have availability to the synthetic HRT here but it seems to do a good job. And as you say the quality of my life is sure more important than living a long but sweaty, anxiety ridden existence. Warm Wishes Elizabeth. |
