Hi,
I'm into my next endeavor in conquering this awful time. That is, I have decided that I have to start having sex again even though it hurts like hell. In that respect, I have bought Zestra lubricant and a Women's Libido Herbal formula. I haven't started either yet. My question: Has anyone used either of these. Have you taken an herbal supplement and do you take it with your other vitamins and minerals? I take vitex/cohosh herbs and I'm afraid to take this new Women's concoction on top of those. What herbal supplement have you taken and has it helped get your engine revved?? Thanks. corky |

... That is, I have decided that I have to start having sex again even though it hurts like hell. ... Hmmm, I'm not sure any amount of boost to my libido would get me past a PAIN issue if that is what is involved. I was diagnosed with vulvodynia over a year -- ago ... which is basically incredible PAIN in an area of my body that I had always considered my "happy zone"! The gyno did a variety of tests ... I tried a bunch of topicals and then finally he hands me a prescription for anti-depressants. He explained to me that for "some unknown reason" many with with vulvodynia get pain relief when they are on anti-depressants. I thanked him of course, and then started doing some serious homework on V-pain and came across a study that said acupuncture had some success. I was fortunate to find a gynecologist in my own medical group who was also a licensed acupuncturist. (What are the ods?) After a single treat -- (that took three hours and involved 40 painless needles in places I didn't know they put pins!) I was completely cured. Actually for the first four days after the initial session, the pain was much worse and I was convinced it hadn't worked at all. And then on the fourth day I woke up and searing pain (which had been with me for at least 6 months) was completely gone. It has returned only once in the last year and I went back for another pins/needle session, with the same wonderful results. Good luck to you on your healing journey. ~EM |

Thanks. corky I tried zestra once, it smells horrible, like a mix of bubblegum and rancid olive oil. and did nothing at all for me. It is prety much just a bad smelling lubricant that gets warm after 5 minutes, nothing more. Also you are supposed to be careful not to get it into your vagina because it can cause burning and itching in there. Maybe you don't really have low sex drive? it sounds more like you have vaginal atrophy if sex is painful. When I was suffering the atrophy I still wanted sex..... I just knew there was no point to having it since all that was in it for me was pain. |

I'm also on Vitex/Cohosh for a month and I have to say I didn't have as much pain. You're right about the zestra (smells bad) and it wore off kind of quick, but maybe the Vitex/Cohosh is working b/c I had pain, but it wasn't as bad. I'll to try again soon and see, but now my DH pissed me off big time yesterday so it may be freezing for awhile again. |

I have been taking 100mg of L-Arginine 3x a day for a while and that seems to help with blood flow in "that" area. I also made up my mind that one way or another I was gonna lick this pain issue. I have found that staying on replens is the best way to use it. If you miss a week or so then try it again, you end up with the cottage cheese issue. The I said "what the hey" and ordered this cream called Orexia. Well, a little dab on your clitoris and the whole area comes alive. Suddenly lubrication isn't an issue and reaching a climax is easier. I was scared to death the first time I tried it because it had been several months since we'd had intercourse. We've probably had more sex in the past month than in the rest of the year combined. My gynecologist told me point blank to forget the romance novels, go straight for the erotica and to have more sex. So I'm following her instructions.

Hi Corky,
Just wanted to let you know I tried an herbal blend for libido. Messed my stomach up big time! I'm not sure if I should try taking it at a different time of day or with more food, but it seems to be hard on the stomach. Let us know a specific brand if you have good results (after the tif with the DH!!). The Orexia sounds interesting. Anyone know where/how to order? Adair |

Damiana is an herb I've used that helps female arousal very well, and libido somewhat. I've taken it in tincture form as well as in capsules. There were no side effects. I certainly had more sensation and quicker arousal and climax.
Maca didn't do anything for me, good or bad. Yohimbe worked very well for libido, arousal, the whole ball of wax, but it's a stimulant. I couldn't sleep for 24 hours when I took a whole pill ... I switched to taking 1/4 pill and it still worked pretty well without so much stimulant effect. I hear that you shouldn't take yohimbe if you have high blood pressure or heart problems. Now that I'm using transdermal estradiol and testosterone I haven't felt much need for this kind of herb, but they can definitely be helpful. |

Thanks Jasminetea I see Damiana in a lot of mixtures and I've read about it. I don't think its in the stuff I bought at Waldgreens (which I still haven't tried) but if when I do try and it doesn't work, I'll go for the Damiana. |

I have been having much difficulty reaching climax - as well as the low libido issue. Not a good combination! Would like to hear more information on this Orexia cream - can someone help? Di, I found the website for orexia and orexia.com. I've not tried it myself and there is no mention of anyplace local to purchase it. Only online. Here is more info clipped from their site. It does sound as though the effects are due to increased blood flow to the clitoris. I'm thinking I can find something cheaper that would do this but then I'm pretty much a tightwad.
<clip> Orexia™ is a powerful cream used topically prior & during sexual activity. Orexia™ was scientifically formulated to immediately intensify the sensitivity of the clitoris to deliver explosive orgasms that provide maximum sexual fulfillment. In fact, you should achieve an orgasm the first time you use Orexia™. How much does Orexia™ cost? Orexia™ is packaged in a 1 fl. oz jar and costs $55.94. Most regular customers order the ‘Best Value Option’ which is $144.96 for 4 jars – which is a $55.94 Savings and comes with Free Shipping & Handling. How much comes in one bottle? Applied as directed, a bottle provides approximately 30 applications. Women will use 1-4 applications during any one sexual experience. How much is shipping & handling? Most customers order the ‘Best Value Option’ which comes with Free Shipping and Handling. All other orders only cost a flat $7.95 for shipping and handling. How long does it take to receive my order? Orders ship within 24 hours from the time we receive them. Most Orders take 2-5 business days from the time we ship them. Carol,
Thanks so much for all that information! That was above and beyond! LIke you, I feel that is a little pricey. I may explore some cheaper options first - if only I can figure out what those might be! Thanks again, Di -------------------- If one door opens to another door closed, I hope you keep walking till you find a window...

Does the Orexia cream have a smell? Zestra did not work for me, plus it smells really bad.

I had recently noticed my skin down there was much thinner and there was some pain. I started on the soy milk and the flax seed meal and my skin has plumped up. No kidding! I am shocked. If I do not take it for a day, it goes back down. So I make sure to take it three times a day. See what dose works for your body. Also it makes me urinate better. Better stream. I looked it up online and soy and flax are phytoestrogens. Estrogen is needed for smooth muscle in your unrinary tract and your vaginal skin. It also does a bunch of other great things for the body.

Soy/Flax have result in similar manner for me... Do you have any incontinence at all? If so did that help it? On occasion I have small little gushes if I laugh, sneeze or cough. Kotex and Poise pads have become an unwanted friend. Did it do anything to your "desire" for sex? TD |

Did it do anything to your "desire" for sex? TD thank heavens, I have no incontinence issues... but I do find that I must sit longer to expell,as it seems to drip, drip...*sigh* I'm also using those organic wipes afterward, more than I would like.. You know the kind you carry in your purse. * more sighing*...lol I take Revival Soy, which helps a host of issues, and increases my libido to boot... For anxiety, stress managements I take Ashwagdha, and Shativari, both of which also increase libido as a bonus, -------------------- "Starting Over"
