Hi Everyone:
I have an issue with very increased, over the top, libido. I know I have seen people write in with low libido issues, but I haven't seen too much about the opposite. Anyway, this is really an annoying, awful feeling. It goes on for days, weeks even. Having an orgasm only helps for a few minutes and then its right back. Its very oncomfortable and not fun at all! I have discussed it with my gyno and he has no clear answer. My testosterone and progesterone are low and estrogen goes up and down (recent saliva test showed it to be low). I just started bio (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone), but I had the same problem while on the pill. Its driving me crazy! When this feeling starts my heart will skip too (have had many issues with pvc's) and I feel a general "racing" inside. NOT like anxiety, but just a weird feeling. I've had lots of tests and all seem normal. I think somewhere there is an answer for this. This is the truth, even sitting in the car or at my desk makes the "pressure" worse. PLEASE don't laugh at this...clearly its not easy to discuss, but I feel like I can talk freely here. Is there anyone who has heard of this or experienced this? If so, what the hormone to make it go away! I'm at a loss for what this could be. I've had my thyroid checked a million times and it comes out normal. I can't belive I have low testosterone, but I do...so what is my problem? Is this common in peri? I'm almost 44 and have had this on and off for brief periods for a few years, but now its really bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
PS Sorry to be so graphic ...I know this is strange.

Many women have increased libido early in perimenopause - usually when testosterone is not as low as the estrogen. Unfortunately, (or fortunately - depending how you look at it) - it doesn't tend to last. Mostly eventually go into the problem of low libido.

Hopefully you are married, cause I am not, but I have that same problem and could find myself in LOADS of trouble if I acted on my fantasies. It's enough to drive me crazy sometimes.

I was so happy to see these posts!!!! I have the exact same problem, especially before my period is supposed to start. And like who do you tell? I would never feel comfortable enough to tell my doctor - not that it would help anyway. I'm not married or in a relationship so its difficult sometimes. HOORAY - I'm not a dirty old woman!

These forums are saving my sanity. biggrin.gif

I just read where dropping estrogen causes a surge of adrenaline. Thats can cause the libido to increase. Does anyone hink thats the problem here?

I am also experiencing this side of the libido after quite a long time with very little libido other than at certain times of the month. Now it is high, high, high.... rolleyes.gif .....it might help if you type into google PSAS and see if that sounds like you. And yes, I also think it could be the testosterone.....I think I am full of that hormone in amounts sufficient to do this, but I don't have enough to cause any masculine side effects..... laugh.gif ...

I'm not laughing at you hun, I too feel it is not funny at all, and a lot of the arousal in unwanted.........it's just "me" to make light of some things I struggle with, or if I don't, I hit rock bottom. sad.gif

Maybe we will calm down with time....at least by half.......

Hi All:
I have read all the posts...thanks. This issue is driving me crazy, but I am glad I'm not alone here. I looked up PSAS as mentioned. I think mine is simply hormonal. Funny thing is that I am on testosterone and its still low on the blood tests, but libiso is high...real high. Go figure. I just think its all the hormonal swings...I just happen to be swinging that direction for now. Really, I'd be glad to loose my libido for a while. I even told my docotor that and he just looked at me like I was crazy. This libido thing seems to go alone with the "internal buzzing" that some talk about. I guess mine is more of a racing feeling inside. Again, must be hormones. I just started on a new bio that is suuested by DR. Joel Hargrove. Anyone know him? We'll see what happens. If I could get rid of this issue and the heart palps, I think I could deal with all the other stuff! Yes, its started to be that way for me...thinking of what I can live with and what has to go! I'm giving up the fantasy of being 100% ever again.

HH
