I have vaginal atrophy and inside things seem to be getting better using the Estring but not externally. I have irritation that comes and goes. I take long baths and lather up with various different bath and body works shower gels. Could this be my problem? Sitting in the water with this in it, I finally think that this maybe causing this soreness. I become very sore, burn and is very red.

If it is does this mean no baths with soaps only showers? What kind of bath soap is gentle and none irritating?

OMG, yes, it's probably the shower gels. I can't use anything with scents in them. The only thing I can use is Olivella soap (unscented) and Aveeno soap for dry skin (also unscented). Both of these are very gentle. I really like the Olivella, I buy a bunch at once online. It has olive oil in it, but they also have a scented version, so be careful not to get that one.

Definitely: avoid the shower gels!! They have so many chemicals and can be so irritating to the skin. Look for a natural gentle soap like Aveeno.

I too, love to soak in a long bath and read. I sometimes use natural oils that I buy at places like whole foods. Expensive, but they are so soothing and I just treat myself once in awhile!

Bathing is the worse thing to do for women that don't have vaginal issues. Long bath will dry out your skin everywhere. Sitting in hot water with or without any skin products is not advisable for women. I remember back in my 20s, I complained of yeast infection and my gyno asked me if I like to take long baths, and warned me it causes vaginal problems including yeast infections.
If you want to relax muscles, steam room or dry sauna are better options.

I do take long baths, but no soap of any kind in the water, and it doesn't seem to bother my 'V'. Sometimes I add baking soda, which can be soothing.

I have to agree, no bath products IN the bath! And no harsh soaps "down there". I have used glycerin soap when I was having recurring UTI/yeast infections during peri. And only cotton underwear, and no really tight pants. You shouldn't even wash the rest of yourself in the bath. Wash in the shower, shampoo in the shower....

HOT water actually leaches moisture out of your skin. I choose to use NO soap down there at all (and no there is not a smell if you bathe right). There are oatmeal products for the bath that I hear are supposed to be soothing and always always ALWAYS when you are done with the bath, stand up and rinse your vaginal area with water to rinse away any residue left on your skin. Lingering soaps and oils can irritate badly!
