A few years ago I had moderate to severe burning/itching in my most senstive areas down below. The 2 doctors I saw tried all sorts of creams/lotions/antibiotics. All the tests came back negative. I changed to cotton undies, baby laundry detergent, and mild soap. It resolved itself after about 8 weeks.

Well, it has returned! I've had it about a week now. Last week I tried the 3-day Monistat cream, and its seemed to help for a while. I'm also getting some mild cramping, espcially low in my pelvic area. Went to my regular doc yesterday, and she ran all the yeast/bacteria test, which came back negative. She also convinced me to run some STD tests, although I've been married for 17 years & honestly don't think that's the problem with my spouse. It's certainly not me. wink.gif She did run an urinalysis, which found a little bit of blood in my urine. She wants to wait for the STD tests to come back today or tomorrow b4 taking any action. She's also going to re-run the urinalysis in a couple weeks, to make sure everything is OK.

Of course, this had to happen when my husband and daughter are away backpacking this week, outside of any kind of phone range. Our dog and cat seem sympathetic, but I think all that's on their minds is "so, when is she gonna feed us?". smile.gif I feel yucky today -- headachy & my stomach is rumbling. I have a history of anxiety, so today's yuckiness may be just stress - induced, even though I'm not totally freaked out about it all. I suffer from Googlitis, and got on the internet a bit last night to research the blood in the urine thing. Apparently, all sorts of things can cause this, and I'm not too worried about it. In the meantime, I'm staying off of Google. rolleyes.gif

Just venting here, I think. I'm a number of years into Peri, and I've learned that symptoms come and go with surprising irregularity. Eventually most of them go away, but it's getting through them that's hard some times.

Well, the burning, itching went away for awhile, but returned last week. Now it's gone again! Jeesh, where is the revolving door??? rolleyes.gif

I did see a urologist today because of the blood in urine issue. She said that 90% of the people she sees, nothing is wrong -- it just happens. She does want to do a work up, just to make sure everything is 100%. She did a cystoscopy this mornng right in her office, to check out the bladder, and everything was fine. (And I did not have a panic attack on the table, which has happened before -- yay!) I've got a CT scan of my kidneys next week. She suggested eating lots of yogurt to see if that clears things up, if yeast is a problem. Personally I think it's hormones run amok. But I am more than willing to try some yummy yogurt!!

This place is such a God-send. I feel lost and confused, like no-one around me understands some of the wierd things I'm going through. Then I come here, get support, and read posts that make me say "Wow -- that sounds like me!!! I'm not so alone after all!!"

Last May, just in time for my 50th birthday, I had about 3 weeks of burning. Went to my ob/gyn, she ran tests and everything was fine. I tried monistat for 3 weeks with some relief but still felt uncomfortable. She prescribed a vaginal cream. After 2 weeks, i felt like my old self. I used it for about 2 months, then felt better. I was supposed to continue using it twice a week, but I get busy and I forget. Well, I started my period yesterday and now I am burning so bad again, I can't even use tampons. I just called in a refill for the cream. I hope it does the trick. This really *****. My hubby never has anything like this. I just feel frustrated and can't get comfortable!

Blueskygirl: I tried the same thing, and it worked! I had some over the counter Monistat-like cream. Used it for 3 days (and also ate a few yogurts). By the end of those three days, the itching was gone!

A Physician's Assistant once told me that sometimes you can get a mild yeast infection oustide the body -- maybe that was it. Hope the cream works for you again. That itching/burning is the pits! Pain seems amplified when dealing with certain "sensitive" areas.

It is SO reassuring! Sometimes I think I'm going crazy with wierd symptoms. Come here, and find out I'm not so crazy!

I used the Monistat cream and ate the yogurt at the same time. Actually, I'm still eating yougurt about 3 times/week. Apparently it keeps the yeast-loving beasties at bay.

I was very uncomfortable with the burning/itching. Years ago I stopped using scented toilet paper, and also switched to a baby laundry detergent. I've also stopped using the disposible razors with the "moisturizing" strips on them -- I guess my skin is just too sensitive to any kind of fragrence/chemicals. My hubby and I just use KY or jojoba, too.
