Q: I was diagnosed with rokitansky syndrome at the age of 17, I am now 49. I believe that the depression, anxiety and confusion I am struggling with has to do, in part, with menopause. I went to see my family doctor, who rx'd an antidepressant which I don't want to take. I tried to talk to him about hormonal changes but he said I was depressed and I needed to get out from under the depression before I could get help with anything else. I saw a gynecologist and talked to her. she's tried to rx a certain hormone estratest) for me but my ins. Won't pay for it. Someone suggested I go see an endocrinologist. I don't know where to start, or what to look for, or who to see. I do know i'm interested in bioidentical hormones. I live in minnesota.
A:
Contact a local compounding pharmacy. Ask the pharmacist for the name of a doctor in your area who is experienced in prescribing bioidentical hormones and who fills prescriptions at that pharmacy. Make an appointment with that doctor.
